#BUDGETVIEWS In analyzing the #interimbudget and on Metals & Mining Industry (Stainless Steel), Anubhav Kathuria, Director, SYNERGY STEELS LIMITED, says, “I see certain key factors in this budget. While the Hon’ble Finance Minister did not provide import duties-related measures, which the stainless-steel industry will eagerly look for in the full-budget due later, key policy announcements, including 2 crore more houses under the #PradhanMantriGraminAwas Yojana, a new housing scheme for the middle-class, as well as the conversion of 40,000 railway bogies to Vande-Bharat standards, are expected to contribute to demand for various stainless-steel products in the medium-to-long term.”   Highlighting the positive step of converting 40,000 railway bogies to Vande-Bharat standards, Kathuria expressed optimism about the impact on the railways’ upgrade. He anticipates #stainlesssteel becoming the #metal of choice for this initiative and adds, “#Stainlesssteelcoaches comparatively enable a host of benefits, including #energyefficiency due to weight-reduction, strength of rakes, and #corrosionresistance in the context of coastal routes, etc. Furthermore, the domestic availability and environmental friendliness of the alloy are further added benefits.”

According to the data released by the China Construction Machinery Industry Association, a total of 12,376 excavators were sold in January 2024, marking an increase of 18.5%. This also signifies that excavator sales have finally become positive after experiencing twelve consecutive months of negative year-on-year growth. 👍 The sales growth can be attributed to overseas orders and equipment upgrades prompted by Chinese government emission regulations. US long steel products August 2024 analysis Fastmarkets Metals and Mining We believe that the recent softening of US long product demand is being driven by more than just summer doldrums, but also growing cautiousness by steel buyers. There had already been concerns about softening construction and manufacturing activity. While up month on month to 46.4 points in June, the American Institute of Architecture’s Architecture Billings Index remained in negative territory for the 17th straight month and the Institute for Supply Management’s manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) weakened further to 46.8 in July. While there seems to be no doubt that the Federal Reserve will cut US interest rates by at least a quarter of a percent in September and could follow that with additional cuts later this year and early 2025, that will take time to impact long product demand at a time when it is taking longer than expected for recently passed federal legislation to have a significant impact upon construction and manufacturing activity. On the plus side, while still down month on month, US domestic rebar prices bottomed out at $ per short ton in mid-July. But while there has been a slight uptick in demand, with some funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) bipartisan infrastructure bill starting to flow, we are not expecting any upward pricing movement. REUTERS/Aly Song/File Photo 30 Jan 2024 08:51PM Bookmark Share BEIJING : The world's largest steelmaker China Baowu Steel Group has raised 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) from a bond issue, in part for the giant Simandou iron ore project in Guinea, it said on Monday. The capital, raised by issuing three-year fixed rate bonds with an annual coupon rate of 2.45 per cent, will be used for operating expenditure, including debt repayments, working capital and project construction, the company said in a document filed to the Shanghai Stock Exchange last week. At least 70 per cent of the capital raised will be used for the northern blocks of the Simandou project, according to the document. The Simandou project in southeastern Guinea in West Africa is set to be the world's largest and highest grade new iron ore mine.

With a premium product shipped to the coast of West Africa; the most logical market to take the ore is Europe as shipping costs will only increase. But with high grade Fe and low Silica in high demand for future green steel making processes; product differentiation within Europe's steel makers will be key to absorb burgeoning costs of going green.

Mining activity has been badly affected, both in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts, apart from other parts of the State with the unprecedented tax burden, stringent norms for sanctioning of licenses, involvement of third parties in the collection of fees and others. 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐬 Speaking at this year’s Drycon conference in Mumbai, Captain Pappu Sastry, CEO of Adhira Shipping and Logistics (ASL), said that Africa’s mining sector is entering a golden age where opportunities are open to investors, shipping lines and logistics companies. Africa is a continent of more than 1.4 billion people, with a mining sector that is growing rapidly and investment opportunities across the continent, said Sastry. “We are experiencing a rapid expansion in the development of junior mines in Africa along with increased demand for commodities from existing mines. There are opportunities to invest in machinery, trucking and ports with high returns and lower risk,” he said. For the bulk shipping sector, cargo volumes are available and increasing, while owners can add value to the African commodities export sector while enjoying contracts of up to 10 years. There is strong demand for handy feeders for granites, construction material and clinker. “In the charter market, ASL is seeing bareboat contracts for Cape, Kamsarmax, Handy and Mini-Bulk for three, five and 10 years. In the Cape sector, there are opportunities in the bauxite, manganese and iron ore sectors from West Africa to India and China, said Sastry. Demand is also high for tugs, barges and floating cranes with long-term contracts available. Africa’s land mass is bigger than China, India, the continental U.S., and most of Europe combined, meaning that effective shipping and logistics are key to success across the continent, according to Sastry. Land based transport is also under served and there is a need for trucking services and rail services connecting the interior, where many mines are located, to the coastal ports. There is also a need for investment in port management for barge jetties and multi-user ports as well as warehousing. “There are major opportunities for investors large and small to reap the rewards in this burgeoning market, with the only inhibitor being the shortfall in equipment, management, machinery and infrastructure, all of which can be resolved through adequate investment.”

Mysteel expects that seaborne #bauxite prices next year will see a decrease after a rise. The reasons for the expected price decrease are the limited amount of new alumina coming on stream in China next year and the continued increase in seaborne bauxite supply. #alumina #Guinea #Australia
