Are you working and leading in healthcare right now and wondering what it's all for? 😵💫 We're hearing a lot about our health system right now and I’m fortunate that I’ve spent 30 years working in public health systems in two countries in diverse leadership roles. “What does it mean to be an unapologetic leader in healthcare in 2024?" I was recently giving a talk at a hospital on leadership and I was asked this question. Here are the 4 key principles that need to be highlighted when discussing unapologetic leadership. 1. Values over fear 2. Lean in on action 3. Double down on diversity 4. Create an environment where you can think outside the box When I consider how one can apply that in 2024 in healthcare here's what comes up for me. Say you're in a situation where there are several crisis happening all at once... ↳ Surgical wait times ↳ ER is backed up ↳ The staff is burnt out ↳ Lack of access to primary care overall It's hard to know exactly what we should do... but for me, it's all about moving the needle. Being transformative right now. When we're in a time of need. And when we're choosing to lead this is where it has to come from.
