A tardy post, but one that is very close to my heart. SESCON 2023, a sports science conference with a different vision. We have innumerable online & hybrid conferences for sports science across the globe, what was different about SESCON? Firstly, we were specific about keeping the event offline. We wanted to revive the old methods where people met face to face to interact & exchanged ideas. A lot of times we miss out on the group experience & more importantly on bits of the scientific discussions themselves when we go hybrid. Sitting in a car, at work, at home with the family in full blast, we've all been there. Our audio & video switched off, at the end we've only absorbed 30-40% of the content. It's more like watching a YouTube video cause, at the end of the day you haven't met the speaker nor does the speaker know who you are. Secondly, while there are so many events focused on an exchange of scientific ideas and developments, we wanted something else as well. We wanted to make SESCON an inspiration platform where we will not limit the registrations to only sports professionals but to anyone who aspires for a career in sports. Come, experience this world first hand, maybe it's for you maybe not but how will you know if you never try. When I first wanted to start my journey into sports science, my mentor and guide, Basu Shanker, told me to join his centre as an intern for a couple of weeks to experience it and that's the only way I'll know. I joined & was hooked for life. I went on to intern a full year and do my master's thereafter. We want to be able to give, if not a few weeks at least a few hours of an experience to anyone aspiring. Also, we want to provide a platform for all stakeholders in sports. Why should a conference be only science? Why not an Expo as well? While, as the pilot year, we launched with but a few companies, we are extremely grateful for VALD Performance showing faith in us, Pankaj Wankhede supporting us and being our title sponsor. We also thank Laxmi Sri Pandrala from Lami.fit, Thenneera & Foracoach Technologies Private Limited for making this initiative happen. The key advantage being, unlike a conference of hundreds of registrants where a handful are interested in your products, here is a curated set of registrants and elite speakers, who are all well settled within the sports science community and are all interested in the products you have to offer. Having said all that, I am honoured to have been part of a great team at The SES Network to pull off this event in record time. So kudos to my team Sai Krishna Gayatri Raghavan Shristi Bharti Soorya Senthil Kumar Deepak K Thaman Thimmaiah. Lastly, and most importantly, thank you to every speaker who accepted our invitation the moment we asked, stood by us & supported us.
