Over the past few decades, we've witnessed the devastating impact of deforestation, with millions of acres of lush, vibrant ecosystems being cleared for various purposes. This alarming trend not only destroys the natural habitats of countless species but also contributes to climate change, soil erosion, and the disruption of vital water cycles. THE SHELTERING FOREST Fierce winds have been whipping through the Blue Mountains of late making nature photography more challenging than usual, so photographer Teresa Sanchez decided to take a different approach to deal with the wild weather. Teresa chose to move out of the wind and into the sheltered rainforest gully at Coachwood Glen, capturing these striking images of the rich and complex rainforest environment where lianas twist skyward, verdant moss and ferns create a green haven, and fungi enliven the scene with their colourful and curious fruiting bodies.
