Had an incredible conversation with Paramjeet Singh Bisht, India’s walk race athlete who just returned from the Paris Olympics 2024. What stuck with me? The glaring gaps in our sports infrastructure at the grassroots level. Yes, Khelo India is a fantastic initiative—it’s moving the needle in the right direction, but it’s not nearly enough. The real challenge? We’re still not doing enough where it matters most—at the foundation.India is teeming with raw talent. But here’s the problem: these athletes aren’t getting the support, infrastructure, or resources they need to succeed. Paramjeet’s journey to the Olympics wasn’t smooth. It was a battle against poor facilities, lack of proper training support, and a system that just doesn’t invest enough at the grassroots. If someone like him made it to the world stage, imagine how many others are left behind simply because they didn’t have the right opportunities. We need to think bigger. Imagine building a sports ecosystem where every kid with potential—whether they’re from a village or a metro—gets the same world-class training, nutrition, and mentorship. What if we created a pipeline that took talent from the streets to the podiums, no matter their background? It’s not just about cheering when we win; it’s about investing when it counts. The future of Indian sports is bright. But we’ve got to get our hands dirty at the grassroots. It’s time to put our money where our talent is.#GrassrootsRevolution #SupportTheBase #OlympicDreams #KheloIndia #InvestInTheFuture #IndiaToTheTop #Uttarakhand

The Untapped Potential of Grassroots Sports in India India's tier 2, 3, and 4 towns are brimming with untapped talent waiting for the right opportunities to shine. Investing in grassroots sports isn’t just about nurturing future champions—it’s about creating a lasting impact on the country’s sporting ecosystem. By supporting grassroots initiatives, we empower young athletes to dream big and reach platforms they might not have thought possible. There are countless examples of athletes who’ve risen from small towns and made a name for themselves on the international stage: - Neeraj Chopra, the Olympic Gold medalist in Javelin, comes from Khandra, a small village in Haryana. - P.V. Sindhu, from Hyderabad, became one of the world’s top badminton players. - Dutee Chand, from a small village in Odisha, has become an international sprinting sensation. - Deepak Punia, the talented wrestler, hails from Chhara, a village in Haryana. - Mary Kom, the boxing legend, comes from the remote town of Manipur. These stories show that incredible talent is not limited to major cities. However, to unlock this potential, there is an urgent need for investment in infrastructure, coaching, and resources at the grassroots level. By doing so, we not only give these athletes a chance to shine but also uplift entire communities. The future of Indian sports lies in its grassroots, and with the right support, we can see many more success stories emerging from every corner of the country. #SupportGrassrootsSports #InvestInTalent #FutureChampions #IndianSports #SportForDevelopment

The landscape of professional sports in India has undergone significant transformation in recent years, transitioning from a recreational activity to a respected profession. This shift is primarily driven by increased investment in sports infrastructure, highlighted by the establishment of modern training facilities, sports academies, and renovated stadiums. The emergence of professional leagues such as the Indian Premier League (IPL) for cricket, along with the Pro Kabaddi League and Indian Super League, has revolutionized sports in India. These leagues provide athletes with stable incomes through lucrative contracts and attract substantial corporate sponsorships and endorsements. Initiatives like the Khelo India Scheme have played a crucial role in nurturing talent and enhancing access to quality sports facilities nationwide, fostering a new generation of athletes. Furthermore, media coverage and digital platforms have contributed to this growth by enhancing accessibility to sporting events. The recent #KheloIndiaScheme update got me reflecting on a profound question: What does true athlete-centric development really look like? When we see 42 out of India's 106 medals at the #AsianGames2022 being won by Khelo India Athletes (KIAs), we're witnessing more than just a number. We're seeing potential—raw, transformative human potential. So as we celebrate these performance milestones, its important to ask how can we, as sports #leaders, #coaches, and #policymakers, use this success to reflect on the larger purpose of #athletedevelopment in India? Here are some questions worth pondering: 1️⃣ How might we broaden the scope of support for KIAs beyond training, equipment, and short-term performance goals? Could we define "success" in ways that encompass academic growth, personal well-being, career and life skills that serve athletes both during and after their sports careers? 2️⃣ What systems can we design to track and learn from the transitions—from junior to senior levels and from competitive careers to post-sport pathways? How might such data provide India-specific insights for retaining talent and fostering the wider sports ecosystem? 3️⃣ How can the program actively support KIAs in becoming role models and contributors to the system after retirement? What pathways can we offer to enable their long-term connection to Indian sports, whether as coaches, mentors, or future sports leaders? 4️⃣ As custodians of athlete development, are we challenging ourselves to remain truly athlete-centric? Are we ensuring that every decision is measured not just in medals but in the holistic development of young talents who entrust us with their dreams? The Khelo India Scheme stands as a powerful foundation. By asking the right questions, we can ensure that its impact transcends the podium, nurturing athletes who thrive on and off the field, and creating a legacy of resilience, innovation, and excellence. What frameworks or strategies do you think will help shape this holistic vision for Khelo India? #leadershipcoach #highperformance ##AthleteDevelopment #SportsLeadership #KheloIndia #HumanPotential #CoachingMindset

What would an ecosystem, rooted in the Indian context, for spotting and nurturing future Indian #football talent from childhood look like? ⚽ Manish Wahi is a Football Sporting Director, Manager, and Coach who has a close view of the Indian football ecosystem. He truly believes that India can move past its reputation as a sleeping giant, and claim its place on the world stage. However, for that to happen, we would need a more robust system that brings young talent into the pipeline, and nurtures them till elite levels of the sport. He outlines his vision of what such an ecosystem would look like, thoughtfully covering everything from technical training for the young athletes, to ways of addressing parents' concerns about their child's future, healthcare, and even financial planning for the athlete's future. See his model for an ecosystem that protects and nurtures Indian talent so that they can perform at the highest levels of the sport: https://lnkd.in/dr9X8kd3 #ELMSports #HPLP #alumni #highperformancesports #indianfootball #athletecentric #systemdriven #coachled #sportsmanagement

I am what I am. I am what I think. I am the change. As an Indian, I dream of seeing India leading the world not just in population and democracy but in sports too. Despite being the largest democracy and having the largest population, our medal tally in events like the Olympics doesn’t reflect our potential. To change this narrative, I have dedicated resources to build world-class sports facilities. Our infrastructure includes indoor badminton courts, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a table tennis hall, and a 10-meter shooting range. These facilities have already seen champions like Archana Kamath, who has made it to the Indian table tennis team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. As a first-generation entrepreneur, I believe in giving back to the nation that shaped me. My goal is to nurture future champions and entrepreneurs, contributing to India’s success on the global stage. We need world-class sports facilities every 20-30 kilometers, and we can’t achieve this without the support of private and public sector companies. Our government has done a lot through the Khelo India initiative, and I am proud of what we have accomplished in the last Olympics. But we aren’t there yet. I request all corporates to come forward, adopt a sport, and support it in all possible ways. Together, we can bring India into the top 3 in the world. Let’s work together to make this vision a reality. #bethechange #indiansports #sportsforchange #indiarising #championmindset #indiaatolympics #futurechampions #supportsports #givingback #sportsinindia #sportsinfrastructure #indiantop3 #kheloindia #corporatesupport #entrepreneurship #olympicdreams #learningreimagined #prometheusschool Prometheus School #kheloindia KheloIndia

Unlocking India's Sports Potential: A Strategic Approach To gain a competitive edge in sports, India can adopt a cluster-based management approach, categorizing sports into: - Precision sports (shooting, archery) - Team sports (hockey, football) Prioritize sports with high Olympic medal potential and relatively low investment needs. Leverage established sports like cricket as cash cows to support emerging ones. Key strategies: - Promote women's participation through dedicated facilities and clubs - Integrate sports education with academic curriculum, focusing on genuine interest and talent - Establish sports universities in each state, adopting successful models like Odisha and Haryana - Encourage state-level adoption of specific sports - Offer dual stipends to athletes: fixed and performance-based variable stipends - Ensure effective execution, keeping politics and corruption out of sports By implementing these strategies, India can unlock its true sports potential and achieve global supremacy. #olympics #sportspolicy #sportsstrategy #india #parisolympics
