An often-forgotten part of cleft and craniofacial care is its behavioral medicine component - especially for adolescents and teenagers. Our latest Hope + Health blog by pediatric psychologist, Dr. Jennifer Ludrosky, provides an in-depth guide to help parents of kids with cleft and craniofacial differences manage challenging social interactions (questioning, teasing, even bullying). Read it here: https://bit.ly/3XLvQVK #NationalCleftCraniofacialAwarenessPreventionMonth #NCCAP #WVUKids #TeamChildrens #WVUMedicineChildrensBlog

What’s Your Biggest Challenge in Trauma-Informed OT? One of the most significant challenges I face in trauma-informed pediatric OT is “shifting the culture” around the child to ensure the right supports are put in place. It’s one thing to provide individualised treatment for the child, but it’s a whole different challenge to help the people around them—teachers, caregivers, peers—truly understand the child’s needs and adapt their approach accordingly. It takes time, effort, and often a lot of education to create a trauma-informed environment where children can feel safe and supported. I also find systemic issues difficult. Whether it’s the constraints of the system, funding limitations, or rigid structures, these barriers can sometimes hinder the progress we know is possible. I’m curious - what’s your biggest challenge when working as a trauma-informed therapist? Is it similar to me or something else entirely? Let’s share our experiences and insights! #TraumaInformedCare #OccupationalTherapy #SystemicChange #CultureShift #PaediatricOT #SchoolBasedOT #Collaboration #TraumaInformedSchools

Building interprofessional teams with ease | Bridging science to practice | Team development strategies | Patient Advocate | Let's build high performing teams together!
1 simple opportunity to improve your interprofessional collaborative practice. 1st - share this resource with your families and friends. SLPs are experts in communication and probably share some of their expertise with OTs in feeding. 2nd - review the resource and integrate the knowledge into your practice. For example, if you see 13-18 month old patients, communicate with them using yes/no questions. Let's create a health care environment which is more integrative and transformative through interprofessional collaborative practice! #interprofesionalteams #teamscience #collaborateforhealth
