Getting 7-9 hours of sleep per night benefits your heart by controlling blood pressure and cholesterol levels, boosts mood, memory, serotonin, and melatonin levels, and reduces stress and inflammation in the body. QUALITY SLEEP SUPPORTS HEART HEALTH! It’s widely known that physicians and sleep doctors recommend 7-9 hours of sleep. For every hour that you decrease that, you increase your risk for: - Heart Disease - High Blood Pressure - Stroke - Diabetes - Obesity Each of them is a chronic lifestyle disease. The same diseases can be prevented and controlled via lifestyle changes and good behaviors. And, guess what? Getting enough sleep is a healthy habit! Chronic lack of sleep has been related to long-term health concerns, affecting life quality and longevity regardless of age, weight, smoking, or exercise habits. A preliminary study published in Nature suggests that uninterrupted sleep maintains healthy blood arteries by regulating a hormone generated in the brain. Empowering Health & Wellness Through Whole Foods & Functional Nutrition | Nutrition Specialist & Lifestyle Coach
**Hello Health Enthusiasts!** 🌟 Let’s discuss one of the unsung heroes of health and detox: **sleep**. 🛌✨ Getting enough sleep is like hitting the reset button for your body. When we sleep, our body goes into repair mode, clearing out toxins and waste products. Here’s why it’s so crucial: 1. **Boosts Detoxification**: During deep sleep, the brain flushes out toxins that build up during the day. This is essential for cognitive function and overall health. 2. **Supports Immune Function**: Quality sleep strengthens your immune system, helping your body fight off infections and inflammation. 3. **Balances Hormones**: Proper sleep helps regulate hormones like cortisol and insulin, reducing stress and keeping your metabolism in check. 4. **Aids in Weight Management**: Sleep affects hunger hormones like ghrelin and leptin. When you’re well-rested, you’re less likely to crave unhealthy foods. Prioritizing a good night’s rest is essential. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep tonight. Consider winding down with a relaxing herbal tea, a good book, or some gentle stretching. Your body will thank you! Sweet dreams and wake up refreshed! 🌙💤 #SleepToDetox #HealthJourney #BlueJeansandBerries

If you ever wondered why having a lack of sleep can make you crave sweet and unhealthy foods, you are on to something. Just a few nights of sleep deprivation are enough to disrupt critical hormone levels in your body. The two main characters here – ghrelin and leptin – are in charge of sending appetite signals from the gut to your brain. Ghrelin will make you yearn for food and leptin will let you know that you are full. However, a lack of sleep leads to increased ghrelin levels and decreased leptin levels. That means you will start to crave for high-fat, high-carbohydrate foods, and also have an impaired ability to recognise that you are already full. In the long run, this will lead to weight gain and obesity, jeopardising your overall health. So start sleeping right tonight! Ensure you give your body and mind the rest it deserves.
