Feline Acne ⦿ Feline / Chin acne in cats is a poorly understood disorder of follicular keratinization. If this excess keratin is trapped in the hair follicle, comedones (blackheads) form. ⦿ Predisposing Factors - Excessive Sebum Production - Allergies - Poor Grooming - There may be an association between using plastic food and water dishes and chin acne..." - Whatever the cause, the result is that the hair follicles become plugged ⦿ Diagnosis - Skin scrapping - Dental X-ray ⦿ Treatment - Treatment often involves improved hygiene. Anti-seborrheic shampoo - Chlorhexidine Solution Cleansing ⦿ Prevention - Replacing the plastic food and water dishes with smoth surface glass or stainless steel dishes #veterinary #vetmedicine #feline #cats #riyadh #veterinarysurgeon #medicine #vetclinic

In my experience stainless steel can also trigger a reaction. Glass or ceramic are the safest choice (don't forget the drinking fountain)
