This picture says so much to me. It is very hard to make out a clear picture of me. Why? Because the light is so bright coming in through my window it obliterates the image. It's a blur. But you can see I am being bombarded by rays of light. In much the same way, we often can't see our way in spite of the light all around us. You can imagine life as the rays of sunshine all around my face. Sometimes, when we are caught up in emotional and mental distractions and insecurities, we only see the blurriness of our existence. Yet, we are always surrounded by the light. The light that bathes us in all of the knowledge and support we need to thrive. You can choose to see the blurry image of life. Or you can choose to see the rays of light you are bathed in. Tapping into the light isn't always easy to do. In fact, getting help to see things in clarity instead of the haze you are presently walking around in will change your life for the better. Here's an interesting phenomenon. Stare at the image of my face. What you will notice is that you will be able to see through the haze and a slightly clearer image of my face "shines through". Driving home the other night, I drove into this glorious sunset right by my house. Nature has a way of communicating if you are willing to listen. This colorful spectacle made me aware of the beauty inherent in nature. It exists all around us and for us. Yet, in our “infinite wisdom” we humans have moved away from nature and we are paying the price. Food is no longer natural. Our air and water is polluted. We have filled our oceans with plastic and our ecosystem with chemicals. Our neighborhoods are filled with crime, fear and mistrust. We spend an enormous amount of time in virtual reality and forgot that community and comraderie is how we became so successful as a species. And now, lifestyle diseases, environmental illness, anxiety, depression, loneliness, abuse, mental illness and wars are rampant. We really have lost our way. And I often wonder, is it too late? Can we ever recreate a natural world that we commune with? Are we even capable? The need is critical. We all must do our part in cleaning things up. We need to do whatever we are capable of. The world changes when you change yourself. One person at a time. What are your thoughts?

“Around 81% of doctors say they’re overworked in the 2024 Physician Compensation Report released today from Doximity, an online networking platform for medical professionals, and shared exclusively with Fortune. Researchers polled 33,000 full-time U.S. physicians in 2023 and drew on data from thousands of other recent surveys.” “Morale is so low that around 30% of doctors are considering early retirement—a potential disaster for a country in which 70% of people already feel like the health care system has failed them.” There is NO question in my mind that all of this is the result of greedy health insurance companies and private equity taking over medicine and turning it into a cash cow. What are your thoughts on this?

I wish someone would have told me this many years ago when I was going through a period of darkness. As a person who grew up with an outside-the-box mentality, the shift to practicing medicine forced me (I thought) to make sure other people found me acceptable, i.e. patients, peers, teachers, administrators, etc. So I changed who I was to foster a successful career. I became someone other than myself. I dressed and spoke conservatively, with authority. This shift in who I was led me straight into a severe case of burnout, anxiety, depression, and desperation. In a nutshell, I was a miserable wretched creature. Why? Because I lost myself. I worked too hard to make other people like me, accept me and trust me. This time of my life created many health challenges and a personal crisis of monumental proportions. It took me years to get to understand it all. And when the "cure" revealed itself to me, it scared the shit out of me. What was the cure? Be me. Be my true authentic self. Because only in authenticity will you be attracting people who are meant to be in your life. That meant "re-finding" me. It was VERY hard work. So many compensations had crept into my life. At that point, I honestly didn't know who I was. What I did know is that who I was wasn't who I wanted to be. One of my major lessons in life was that the things that scare you the most are the things you need to work on the most. The other major lesson was that when you do the right things, the right results ALWAYS follow. It's just that we don't know when they will come. You must remain CONSISTENT until your diligence pays off. The happy ending to the story is that I let go of what people thought of me. I paid attention to my own needs and desires. I found myself. The whole world opened up to me. I attracted many people into my life who added so much more. I found my passions, my joys. I know what makes me tick. And most of all, I never let fear stop me from doing anything. I have succeeded in my life, like millions of others, in spite of the fear. Not in the absence of fear. If you find yourself in a position where you aren't happy, you feel stressed, you are catering to the needs of others and not yourself and you really don't know who you are, now is the time to reach out to those who can help you find who you are. You don't have to have a nervous breakdown to make the changes you need to make. You don't have to answer to anyone else but you. Life is impermanent. Each day you live like this is a day lost and now you are another day closer to your eventual death. Don't waste the opportunity life offers you. You have to seize the opportunity. Do it now! Live your life with gusto. Be you! Be authentic! Find and follow your passions! Life is sweeter than you can ever imagine. I'm no saint. If I can do it, you can do it! You won't be sorry.

First of all, do you really need a niche? You need a niche if: 1) You are miserable in the insurance-dependency system. 2) You are stressed out and don't look forward to going to work. 3) You're having trouble paying your bills. 4) You've been thinking of quitting medicine altogether. 5) You hate being controlled by a boss(es). 6) You hate seeing an inordinate number of patients daily. 7) Charting interferes with your personal life. 8) Your patients have noticed you don't seem like yourself. 9) You're unhappy. 10) You feel stuck and afraid. Now let's talk about why a niche is right for you: 1) Apart from all of the above, you love practicing medicine. 2) You don't want to throw away all the years of education, training and experience. 3) You believe you deserve to make a much better living. 4) You want to practice free from the constraints of insurance and employment issues. 5) You know you deserve to make a much better living. 6) You know there are lots of docs quitting insurance and going direct-pay but you don't think you can be successful. 7) You CAN be successful. 8) You just need guidance and a powerful niche! Why create a niche practice? Practicing outside of all of the aforementioned stresses, life is beautiful. I have successfully practiced completely direct-pay for 24 years and I love going to work. I love what I do. And I have made a great living doing what I love! But I started as a hybrid practice. I built my direct-pay practice by attracting more and more patients who wanted the non-covered services that I offered so that I no longer needed to continue with the stresses associated with insurance-dependency. That's the key. Offer services that help your patients in profound ways that are not available through insurance. If you are ready to make a change for the better, one which puts you in charge of your practice, one which lets you decide the standard of care in your office, one which frees you from all the administrative burdens of insurance-dependency, one where you answer only to your patients and most of all, one in which your accounts receivable is $0, then it is time to learn a niche that can make it all happen for you. As I said, a niche attracts patients who need your services and cannot get them from a practice that is bound by insurance guidelines. BUT! You have to believe in yourself, and you have to accept nothing less than success as a result of your investment. If this is you, then you have read the right post.
