When to Stay Quiet vs. When to Speak Up as a Corporate Employee: 🛑 Stay Quiet: 1. During gossip or rumors. 2. In emotional, heated discussions. 3. When feedback isn't invited or necessary. 4. In sensitive HR matters beyond your scope. 5. When interrupting someone's presentation or flow. ✅ Speak Up: 1. If unethical behavior is witnessed. 2. When your expertise can solve a problem. 3. To advocate for fair treatment or inclusivity. 4. If deadlines are unrealistic or unmanageable. 5. When a new idea can drive innovation or improvement. Balance is key—knowing when to listen and when to lead with your voice defines success in corporate.

Do you think fake deadlines are helpful for productivity or do they create unnecessary pressure? 🤔

Is it ok to leave your job in 1 year or 2 years or even 5 years? No, it's not. Let me tell you why you should not leave your job even after 10 years. Because "YEARS" is not the right parameter to define you leaving your job. You should start your job search when: 1) You're no longer growing in learning and salary. 2) Your work is not the right fit for you anymore. 3) People or culture is not what you want. It doesn't matter if it's day 1 or 10 Years. ---------------------------------------- Please remember when your job started to affect your health, whether it be physically or mentally, LEAVE. It's okay to have less than a year experience on your resume, what potential employer want to see is what you did when you were in the position. Time does not define your experience, your hard work does.

JOB SEEKERS: Out of work and need to get back? Consider contract positions, if you've been ruling them out. I consistently get the instant "no thanks" emails back when reaching out with contract openings, even to people who have end dates on their profiles / resumes! "No thanks, I am only targeting permanent positions." Usually this is for benefits - guess what, tons of contract positions include benefits. They may not be as robust as what you might get in a perm job, but they're better than nothing and again, that contract is probably going to pay better than unemployment. Despite what many people say, contracts CAN lead to permanent positions, or last a very long time. I, personally, have consultants who have been on contract for 3-4 years and more. And many who were on contract for months or years, then eventually converted to perm. And stability? Yes, contracts can be ended at anytime. But guess what? So can your "permanent" job...just ask all the people who've been laid off over the last 24 months+. And I've had people working at companies as contractors who stayed on despite the company laying off permanent employees. Many times whether you stay on not is not dependent on the type of worker you are, it's dependent on the department in which you are working. And lastly, taking a contract role doesn't preclude you from continuing to search for a permanent one. You know what it DOES do? Pay better than unemployment. Help build a new network of people who can vouch for your work. If a contract role comes up and you really need to make some money, consider it, and keep the perm job search going on the side. So if someone reaches out to you with a contract opening, ask some questions to help you decide if it might work for you: 1) How does the end client treat contractors? 2) What is their history of extending or converting contractors? 3) What benefits, if any, does the contracting company offer? We offer medical (and pay a portion of premiums) and a 401K to our W2 consultants, for example. 4) What is the end client's history of layoffs? Don't be so quick to rule out a job just because it's a "contract." Gather more info first and make an informed decision.

Don't trust anyone blindly on LinkedIn. These are the Top 7 Scams- 1. People posting about fake struggle stories to sell a course. 2. "My client got selected in Google with this Resume that I made for him" and attaches a selfie with that. This is to sell their services. Selling services isn't bad, using fake FAANG promises is. 3. I work in XYZ Company, I combined the best resources, share your details in comments so that I can send them to you. 4. Fake HRs, asking to comment, repost, follow etc to get a job. 5. Anyone posting a selfie and saying that they earned 1000000$ and then proceed to sell their course/services. 6. People selling fake free services, asking you to comment "yes" or "interested" for reach. Comment "yes" and I'll send you the job link. 7. Asking for money to give you a referral/ fake HRs asking for money for job/fake HRS asking you to complete XYZ course for a job. What should be the 8th one?

These are the common mistake that Fresh Grads make who want to go for an interview but are afraid to make a mistake when interviewing with HR.. 1. Do not do research about the company You should have searched for all the information on the internet about the company you went to interview. It doesn't matter about the salary range or job scope as long as there is a little information when asked. 2. Not being yourself in the interview Do more than you can afford. If you can't do it, you should tell them. Try to imagine if you are accepted to work but when you are told later you can't do it. 3. There is no belief If you do not have self-confidence, it is difficult for HR to see your abilities. Don't be afraid and nervous, overcome that feeling. 4. Agree with everything. You don't have to agree with everyone, you also have the right to share your opinions and ideas. Don't feel very humble, you cast your voice and your ideas. "Remember, interviews are a two-way street. Be prepared, stay confident, and most importantly, be true to yourself—your future employer will appreciate your authenticity."

AVOID saying "I need time to think about this" when offered a job. •Instead, try "I will review this and get back to you by..." Here's why: •"I need time to think about this" can give the impression after multiple interviews you are suddenly unsure and don't know what you want. •It halts the momentum. •It can leave the employer hanging, make them doubt your interest, and lead them to consider their backup candidates. •Whereas "I will review this and get back to you by..." is assertive and implies FORWARD momentum. It removes some uncertainty for the employer. •You can say "I will discuss it with my wife/husband/partner". •But I do NOT recommend using them as a reason for negotiating. •Saying something like "My [wife/husband/partner] thinks the offer is too low" is a cop out. •It brings a 3rd party into the negotiation (unnecessary) and, IMO, can make you look weak. •I'm not saying you shouldn't consult them (you should if appropriate). •I'm saying a professional negotiation should be based on OBJECTIVE business reasons based on mutual value exchange; not the personal opinions of your spouse. •Taking time to review an offer is important but try to get back to the employer BEFORE the time you told them (e.g respond at 9 AM if you told them 12 PM). Under-promise, over-deliver. Good luck!

How to explain a gap in your resume? 1. If you've been laid off by your previous company, do not answer it this way: ❌️"Oh well, my last company laid me off with absolutely no warning. And I haven't been able to get another job since" Instead, answer it this way ✅️"Last year, I was affected by restructuring and nearly my entire team was let go. It's a shame because I really enjoyed the company but ultimately, I'm grateful because it's allowed me the time to be very intentional about the next role that I accept." 2. The reason for the gap is because you've been caretaking Instead of answer it this way ❌️"My grandma got really sick and there was no one whole could take care of her, so I had to quit my job and move in with her" Try answer it this way instead: ✅️"Unfortunately, I had to take a step back from full time employment in order to take care of a very sick relative. While I was unable to work full time, I did freelance a bit and was able to keep up with the latest industry news and software updates. And now I feel fully prepared and couldn't be more excited to rejoin a company as a full time [your role]." 3. If you're a stay at home parent ❌️"I was just a stay at home mom and now my kids are in school, so I need a job" Answer it this way instead: ✅️"I made a lifestyle decision to take step back from full time employment in order to raise my 2 young children. During that time, I stayed up-to-date with all the latest industry news and upskilled by earning new certifications. 4. If you have a private/generic reason ❌️"Um, it's only an 18-month gap, and it's none of your beeswax" ✅️"I had to take step back from full time employment to deal with some personal matters. But I'm happy to say that everything is resolved, and I couldn't be more excited to dive back into full time work."

Workplace Advice: 1. Avoid gossip at work. Soon you'll be 50 and irritated by the personal growth of those against whom you used to spread falsehood. 2. Always be a professional. They'll manipulate you; their schemes shall include claiming your achievements; stay professional. Document everything and remain civil. 3. Don't retaliate. Don't play their negative games. You're not as conniving as they are. 4. Integrity is everything. Your professional reputation shall never betray you. 5. Have a mentor; someone with more exposure and maturity. Someone who's accomplished and grounded and needs no societal validation to feel secure in life. 6. Accomplish tasks and document everything. What you do, NOT what you say, shall speak for itself over time. 7. Use official channels of communication when dealing with difficult co-workers; even when they act friendly, they're not your friends. 8. Build yourself and your networks outside of the toxic workplace. Prepare to leave any time. 9. Build your value in silence. Let them talk. Your actions should explicitly communicate your boundaries. 10. Avoid burnout. Go for leave. Work out. Take health breaks. Source: Hardlife Muhamba
