In my role developing lesson plans for educators, I've been delving into diverse learning activities and instructional approaches. The book "NeuroTeach" emphasizes the importance of varying teaching methods and assessments based on content and timing. This guiding principle has inspired me to step outside my usual strategies while ensuring they remain rooted in educational theory. Remember, students thrive on variety in learning, and educators must have access to a collection of activities to cater to all learners effectively. #Education #LearningActivities #InstructionalApproaches #transitioningteacher #curriculum

🥷Do you agree that the current education system is a thief for creativity, empathic curiosity and authentic connection? I have just finished reading The Connection Curriculum by Matt Pitman and this was my main takeaway. The book presents a framework that involves non-negotiables, landmarks and six focus areas, comprehensively backed by scholarly and expert research to assist schools in implementing 💭 True differentiation does not apply solely to curriculum but to student engagement with unique experiences that have been co-designed with them. 💭Responsibilty and respect is a two sided relationships between students and teachers that should be informed by the values of the community. 💭Human connection is imperfect, and failure along the way, can act as a platform for further authentic connection. Pitman does not have the answers, but uses this book to encourage educators to make connection an essential; even for early-career teachers like myself. #professionalreading #connection #imperfection #values #creativity #curiosity

I first read Donald Norman's The Design of Everyday Things several years ago and immediately started making connections to curriculum design and library instruction. As I wrap up the last weeks of teaching this school year, I remembered this quote from another of his books, Living with Complexity. Sometimes the best lessons come when you embrace student behaviors instead of pushing against them. #donaldnorman #designthinking #instructionaldesign #libraryinstruction
