Normal vision depends on a multifaceted, complex process. Light enters the eye through the cornea, where some of it passes through the pupil, the black-appearing opening in the iris, which controls how much light enters the eye. The light then passes through the lens, which works together with the cornea to focus it on the retina, a layer of tissues at the back of the eye that’s made up of cells called photoreceptors that transform the light into electrical signals. From here, those signals are transmitted to the brain through the optic nerve, turning them into the image you see in front of you. What is the difference between normal lenses and defocusing lenses?   Ordinary monofocal lenses focus the central vision image onto the retina and can only correct vision, allowing a person to see clearly when wearing them.   Defocusing lenses not only focus the central vision image onto the retina to allow us to see clearly but also focus the periphery onto or in front of the retina, creating a peripheral myopic defocus which slows down the development of myopia. Sound is vibration! When it travels through the air to the eardrum, we use the term 𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Sound travels even better through the body's bones, called 𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Cover your ears and speak normally. You hear your voice perfectly clearly because it travels mainly through the bones of the skull. Speak louder, and you can feel your whole body vibrate. The human eye is a marvel, capable of distinguishing around 10 million different colors and boasting a resolution comparable to 576 megapixels. Despite this, the brain processes only a fraction of this visual information, leading to our perception of a lower resolution. On average, people blink about 15 to 20 times per minute, totaling roughly 28,800 blinks daily and over 10 million blinks annually. Although small, the average human eyeball measures about 24 millimeters in diameter and weighs approximately 7.5 grams, housing over 2 million working parts. The retina, located at the back of the eye, contains more than 120 million light-sensitive cells known as rods and cones. The eye is the only place in the body where blood vessels are visible without surgical intervention. It can adapt to low-light conditions, taking approximately 30 minutes to fully adjust to darkness, during which the pupils dilate, and the retina becomes more sensitive to light. As the fastest muscle in the human body, the eye can rotate at up to 500 degrees per second.
