Lots of chatter around why more software founders aren’t pursuing hard tech initiatives. It’s a totally different ballgame given technical/engineering risks, navigating regulatory, team composition, fundraising, time horizon, etc. Ideally, founders should want to solve the hardest problems. However, most founders just aren’t wired to compete in the hard tech arena. And that’s fine. This is how we avoid a bubble. The right people working on the right problems (founder-market fit).

When it comes to delegating MVP development, it's all about finding a company that truly gets you. Sure, you can have all the NDAs, legal protections, the best prices, and perfect time zones for calls, but if there’s no real connection and understanding, what’s the point? Look for a team that understands your vision, shares your passion, and speaks your language. Trust is everything, so make sure you’re working with a crew that you truly vibe with. People are out here pitching devtools to enterprises like "this will make your workflow easier and faster", and I'm like ... have you MET an enterprise? So many technical founders market their tools with phrases like “easy to use / better abstractions / less toil”, because those are the things they themselves value. If you want to get developers to adopt an open-source product, definitely talk about the great abstractions and ease of use. But if you want engineering directors to pay for a tool, you’re probably gonna have to do better than that. It is 2024. Nobody has budget and everybody is laying people off. Nice-to-haves are not need-to-haves. When you, a developer, ask your boss to buy a product that will help you design more aesthetically-pleasing build pipelines, the boss is hearing “Can we spend money on a more fun way to do non-revenue-generating tasks?” https://lnkd.in/eSqzacK7
