We won the Telford Premium Prize 2023 in the contribution to analysis of dynamic behaviour on liquefiable embankment. Electric power facilities are usually surrounded by soil embankments not to leak fuel. It's important to estimate its behaviour in large earthquake. So that we need conduct on 3D analysis, but there are few benchmark tests focused on the issue. We conducted on some shaking tests to contribute for validation of the analysies.

Well done Dr Jack Poleykett and the City of South Padre Island, Partrac, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and US Army Corps of Engineers team in performing and publishing this study. It clearly demonstrates that one of the only truly effective methods for assessing the efficacy of offshore placement or trickle charging (non-direct beneficial use) of dredged sediments for beach and/or shoreline nourishment is to employ sediment tracing / particle tracking field studies in tandem with the placement activities, to inform sediment transport pathways and to unequivocally confirm deposition of the material along the intended shoreline.  Partrac are global leaders in the development and employment of sediment tracing technologies and techniques. Today, Baltimore grapples with the aftermath of a tragic event: the Francis Scott Key Bridge collided with a ship, leaving devastation in its wake. Is it the worst design? My answer is NO. Designing a structure to withstand every possible force is an impossible task. You should design dolphins to redirect the ship from the piers. You must employ strategic foresight and innovative countermeasures. In this unfortunate incident, a vessel carrying 100,000 tons exerted immense pressure upon impact, surpassing 10 psi according to reports. The root cause, however, stems from the ship's power loss, leading to a desperate attempt at recovery that ended tragically. Although the pier couldn't withstand the overwhelming force, it highlights the need for resilient materials. By incorporating ductile, impact-resistant substances, we can fortify critical structures against unforeseen challenges. This calamity underscores the necessity for bridges spanning major shipping channels to be more robust and resilient. An assessment from the American Society of Civil Engineers in 2021 found that more than 40 percent of the nation’s roads are in poor or mediocre condition. The assessment of bridges, airports and water infrastructure is similar. The Army Corps of Engineers, which maintains the country’s aging levees and is involved in the planning and construction of new coastal protections, says that the mounting disasters in recent years have led directly to a greater number of resilience projects.
