Thanks Jason Milne and also Andrew Moag for highlighting the DECC intention to remove the C&D exemption from the Recovery Levy. €10/tonne may not sound like a lot but it will add substantial sums to the cost of large developments where material is intended to be sent to a recovery facility. The good news is that there are sustainable alternatives whereby suitable excavated materials and demolition waste are put to beneficial reuse through the By-Product (Article 27) or End-of-Waste (Article 28) processes. These instruments are not as straightforward as sticking soils in a truck to a landfill, though, and developers and contractors will need to plan ahead to maximise circularity of materials and minimise unnecessary spend on C&D disposal. #AECOM is here to help - we have the expertise to assess the suitability for reuse of your excess materials and to guide you through the regulatory approvals process. If you have a dig coming up and want to explore sustainable and money-saving alternatives to 'muck away', please contact me for a chat about what we can do to help you achieve your needs. #sustainable #development #solutions

Did you know? The International Maritime Organization's SOLAS Annex V mandates the use of incinerators on ships for the safe disposal of garbage. let's Enter the ship's incinerator! one of shipboard waste management, it tackles a range of materials, reducing the ecological footprint of maritime operations , the incinerator efficiently burns various waste materials, including paper, cardboard, and food waste, reducing volume and minimizing environmental impact. Waste is loaded into the primary chamber,Combustion occurs at high temperatures, reducing volume and emissions, Ash residue undergoes secondary treatment for safe disposal. Let's continue to prioritize responsible waste management at sea. #Pollutionfreeocean #Maritimesafety #Marineengineering #ShipIncinerator #WasteManagement #SOLASAnnexV #MaritimeEnvironment"
