Sepsis is the body's extreme response to an infection and is a life-threatening medical emergency. It ranks as the third leading cause of death in the United States. It can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and death, especially if not recognized and treated promptly. Symptoms include fever, increased heart rate, increased breathing rate, and confusion. Early recognition and treatment are crucial for survival. If you suspect sepsis, seek medical attention immediately. #Prenosis #texashealth
We’re thrilled to share that Texas has officially proclaimed September as Sepsis Awareness Month! Sepsis Survivor Julia is one of many advocates in the state who reached out to Governor Abbott to encourage him to make this important declaration. “Though I still face the long-lasting effects of sepsis, I am grateful for every breath I take,” she shares. “I channel my experience into advocating for sepsis awareness, determined to prevent others from enduring what I went through. My hope is that by sharing my story, I can empower others to be proactive about their health and create a meaningful impact in the fight against this silent and deadly condition.” Are you ready to raise your voice for sepsis awareness, just like Julia? Learn how to connect with the governor of your state to submit your request at https://lnkd.in/ekF2aE69.

What can you do to help your heart? It’s a question we get a lot, and especially during American Heart Month in February. American Heart Month is a time to pay special attention to understanding, preventing, and treating heart disease - which, unfortunately, is still the number one killer of Americans. With that in mind, here’s a short list of heart-friendly activities you can try this month, and every month: * Engaging in at least 5 30-minute sessions of moderate physical activity per week * Reducing or outright ceasing your intake of cigarettes, cigars, or vaporizers * Maintaining healthy blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels * Finding ways to reduce stress and relax, like meditation We’d like to add one more: obtaining your CPR certification! Everyone has a heart, and learning how to save one is never a waste of time.

Being Valentine's Day you might see the heart symbol a few times today. If you're lucky it might prompt you or a loved one to express feelings in words or a card or even a gift. But, in addition to the symbolism, we'd like you to literally think about your heart. February is Heart Awareness Month - and almost a third of deaths in NZ are attributed to cardiovascular disease. We can all do with getting our hearts checked, eating heart-healthy food, sitting less, and moving more. Visit heartfoundation.org.nz to learn how you can keep your heart healthy - or how to lead a full life with a heart condition. Your regular GP is the best doctor for continuity of care but should you have any immediate concerns, you're always welcome to consult our emergency doctors anytime. 👉emergencyconsult.co.nz #hearthealth #HappyValentinesDay #Valentine #Heart #HeartAwarenessMonth #EmergencyConsult #emergencymedicine #urgentcare #telehealth

You can hire someone to drive a car for you, make money for you — but you can not rent someone to carry the disease for you. Don’t educate your children to be rich. Educate them to be Happy. So when they grow up they will know the value of things not the price. 2. Best awarded words in London ... The One who loves you will never leave you for another because even if there are 100 reasons to give up he or she will find one reason to hold on. 4. There is a big difference between a human being and being human. Only a few really understand it. 5. You are loved when you are born. You will be loved when you die. In between, You have to manage! Love is in the air, and sometimes, so are asthma triggers... 💐🐈 On this World Asthma Day, let's remember that asthma doesn't have to put a damper on your relationships. Need proof? Just ask people who've been there. Michelle Rivas, an asthma patient and Life Effects contributor, shares: "Asthma doesn't have to ruin all the fun. From my experience of entering a new relationship with asthma, there are ways to ease the transition, and being open and honest from the first date is critical."
