One thing young professionals, like myself, find themselves bumping up against is a ceiling of seniority. It's so frustrating to have seniority waved at you like a magic wand when making a decision with coworkers- it's even more frustrating when it, magically or otherwise, shapes the decision. This clip does a great job of explaining why I think seniority and experience don't guarantee that any one person is a better able to make a decision or fill a position than anyone else. But where do we go from here? The worst thing I could do with this belief is accept that seniority is, sadly, necessary for success and then resign myself to aging without improving, constantly frustrated by those who outrank me, until I am old enough to be in charge. The best thing I could do is commit to using my youth to make valuable experiences, inquiring of those with more experience than me, until I have enough wisdom to know when I'm the right person to make a decision. I will try to do the best thing.

Grow on purpose......

Intentionality is the cure of everything. Do you struggle with your health? Do you struggle building meaningful and lasting relationships? Do you struggle with your eating habits? Do you lack financial stability? Whatever challenges you face, you can overcome them through growing intentionally. It’s your only winning game. You may not control what life throws at you, but you can only control what you do about it by your ability to grow. Not by accident or waiting for a Good Samaritan. You may be feel left behind, have no resources, facing great challenges or have no opportunities. I’m telling you, you need to start live intentionally. The rest will fall in place. Use free resources like YouTube, engage with organizations that need volunteers and seek mentors. But make sure you learn something new every day that will push you closer to your goal. I’ve made a lot of money from skills I taught myself and good mentors I couldn’t find though education system. So, let’s get started. Get intentional.
