Paper Boat exists to address the educational disparities faced by marginalised youth in India. We believe that every child, regardless of background, deserves access to quality education that nurtures their creativity, critical thinking, and self-esteem. By providing inclusive learning spaces, we aim to empower marginalised children to unlock their potential, advocate for their rights, and lead transformative change in their communities. We achieve our mission by establishing community-based Children's Hubs that offer creative learning opportunities such as journalism, filmmaking, and arts. Through these hubs, we cultivate essential competencies like creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, aligning with the objectives of India's education policy. Our approach involves training community facilitators, developing innovative learning resources, and fostering partnerships with local schools and parents' collectives to create a holistic support system. Paper Boat operates 18 Children's Hubs across rural and urban deprived areas in Tamil Nadu, serving over 1,000 children and parents. These hubs provide a range of activities including art, drama, storytelling, and photography, supplemented by project-based learning experiences. We collaborate with community partners and leverage evidence-based strategies to ensure sustainable impact. Currently seeking funding, we aim to expand into two new marginalised communities, using our proven model to empower even more children and create lasting change. * * * #art #creativity #imagination #transformation #childartists #childpoverty #ngo #tamilnadu #collaboration #courage #povertyrelief
