In a few weeks this will be a test of TV and even the future of entertainment. And we are the test subjects. If we know its fake can we still feel real emotions from the story? During COVID, Eric Bear, craved connection and creative collaboration. He assembled a team of animators and filmmakers from around the world to explore what might be possible with 'mocap' Motion Capture and the latest tech from Unreal Engine and Maya 3D software. Can virtual people effectively express authentic emotions? Can audiences be touched, moved and inspired by performances captured using free software and off-the-shelf hardware? Can multiple artists direct, shoot and produce high-quality episodes from their home studios during a global pandemic? 10 episodes. 10 directors. 25 MetaHumans. 3 performance capture actors. 3 voice actors. 1 engine. Lots of love. https://lnkd.in/gySGVSRp

So this happened….we won a 2024 Telly Award. “The Telly Awards are the premier award honoring short form video and television in America. Established in 1979, with over 13,000 entries globally in 2024, the awards are significant as they recognize excellence in video and television across all screens.” We won for the broadcast television commercial that I had the highest hopes for - but didn’t turn out as good as I hoped. We really won because of the courage of a client and in particular their president, who felt so strongly about their customers being bilked out hundreds of thousands of dollars. They had had enough. A small town billion dollar bank whose customers are made up of thousands and thousands of people, mainly from small towns. Many elderly. Many alone. The bank felt like they were out of tools to prevent their customers from being scammed online and on the phone, so they wanted to go public, but not in the typical heavy handed way. I wrote a script to try to breakthrough and disrupt all the ‘be safe’ messages that they felt weren’t getting through. I asked her to be alone in the largest building I could find. Talk right into the camera. Alone. To reach in to Americans watching the evening news. In their living rooms and kitchens. Many also alone. Kathy Austin also recently went on to be ‘VBA Woman of the Year’. Here’s a few seconds…. @communitynationalbank
The courage of a client.

I moved to Vermont 20 years ago. During that time my bank has changed or been sold 4 times. At the same time, a bank I hade never heard of - Vermont Community Bank - approached us. I live in the largest city and their offices are only in the smaller, more rural communities across the state. Now, a few years later it turns out: A. They are Vermont's oldest bank B. They became a client. C. They are a billion dollar bank D. they are the commercial bank to thousands of Vermont companies, big and small. We recently completed a state wide tour of some of their commercial clients for their newest television and online media campaign “HARD WORK’.

I wore braces through all through high school. While I'm happy in hindsight I found this timelpase both enlightening/amazing and riddled with bad memories at the same time. Was this your young life?
Tortured memories thanks to timelpase

“BRAND”….The most misused word in marketing. All the ‘speak to sell’ guru’s have lived off this confusion for years. Get clear on this one word and the results of your marketing will change dramatically. About five years ago, I started writing a book about marketing. Issac Newton said “If I have seen farther than others it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants.” I’ve learned so much from all the marketing giants that have come before me. I've also learned that following all the gurus was like a gym membership. I was never going to get strong and healthy - just by signing up to get ‘strong and healthy’. If you want to change in your business, your brand and maybe even your life, you might want to execute more and watch a few less ‘marketing guru’ TikTok’s. Great marketing is just doing the work. You know what to do. Do it every day. Do it consistently. I made three very short films to help myself and maybe you. I’ll share one a week. 1. Marketing is what you do. 2. Stories are why you do it, and 3. Your brand is just a result. #simonsinek #sethgodin #garyvee #branding #brandingagency #branddesign #brandagency #storytelling #story #marketing

About five years ago, I started writing a book about marketing. Since business school I think I’ve read just about every self-help marketing book. Issac Newton said “If I have seen farther than others it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants.” I’ve learned so much from all the marketing giants that have come before me. I’ve also become frustrated with the self-perpetuating, confusing ‘industrial marketing complex’ many of them have created. Marketing has become the new self-help industry for business. But at the end of the day marketing is just about common sense. At some point I realized following all the gurus was like the gym. I was never going to get strong and healthy, just reading about getting strong and healthy. I didn’t have a book in me, but I do have a few hard-earned lessons. If you want to change in your business, your brand or maybe even your life, you might want to lift more and watch a few less ‘marketing guru’ TikTok’s. You know what to do. Execute. Do the work. Do it consistently. Do it every day. I have recently made three very short films to help you. I’ll share one a week. 1. Marketing is what you do. 2. Stories are how you do it, and 3. Your brand is the result of your efforts. And that’s it.

Pitching a client recently, I presented our due diligence on what got them in their mess. They said ‘ Wow, you are a tough critic.’ I replied “Maybe if you hadn’t set such a low bar on quality we would not be where we are today’. We don’t get a lot of ‘good news’ calls. By the time they find us, clients have a pretty big story going on. The brand has died, or the biggest competitor just broke ground on a new facility, or they need to raise 10 million in 2 months …etc.etc… I used to dread these calls. til i realized THIS IS OUR LANE… Painting a picture to the world of a better day… If you want two minutes on who we are, and how we work …. Want to see in the dark? My old iPhone 13 stopped ’swiping’, so i went to the iPhone 15. It’s basically unchanged - except for two very important differences: 1. No more ‘lightning’ charging connector. Finally the industry standard USB-C The camera. Both Still and Video quality is ‘finally’ at par with most DSLR’s IMHO. ALL these shots were taking at 9pm, on full moon night Oct. 28th. It was complete black night. By twirling down the little ‘^’ on the top of the screen you get to play with all the ‘advanced’ settings. They are all pretty straightforward but if you want to ‘see in the dark’ just move the EXPOSURE COMPENSATION to the right. For a Deep Dive on the camera settings. …https://lnkd.in/g47SWtxD As always thank you for watching. #videoproduction, #digitalmarketing, #postproduction, #marketing, #videomarketing, #story, #storytelling, #advertisingagency, #advertisingandmarketing #sustainability #storytelling #story

In the fall, if you live in New England, chances are you’re going to or hosting an apple cider pressing party. Over the years we have upped our game fro an old hand crank to this ‘one lunger’ from 1928. It’s cantankerous but, in a day it can make a hundred gallons of raw delicious cider if you can feed it enough apples. Just grab your phone, press some apples and capture some history! As always thank you for watching. #videoproduction, #digitalmarketing, #postproduction, #marketing, #videomarketing, #story, #storytelling, #advertisingagency, #advertisingandmarketing #sustainability #storytelling #story
