Step 1: Understand where we are today Step 2: Set reduction targets Step 3: Action The Irish Green Building Council's 'Building a Zero Carbon Ireland' roadmap helped tick the box for Step 1 and Step 2. For Step 3, there is no silver bullet. Action is required from all stakeholders. Timber construction, low-carbon concrete, heat pumps, insulation...they all play a part. But considering about 80% of buildings which will exist in 2050 have already been built today - maximising the use of this existing stock might be one of the most impactful solution of all.
