🌍 Exploring Data Ecosystems and Spatial Data Infrastructure 🌍 I am excited to share insights from the workshop, "Data Ecosystems and Spatial Data Infrastructure - Facilitators for Data Value Creation," held in December 2023 in Copenhagen. As our world becomes increasingly data-driven, the importance of robust data ecosystems cannot be overstated. Spatial data, a critical component of these ecosystems, plays a vital role in enhancing the value created and shared within Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI). This collaborative event, organized by the Danish Agency for Data Supply and Infrastructure, alongside esteemed partners including KU Leuven, TU Delft, IGN France, DAFAGO, and EuroSDR, brought together a diverse group of stakeholders. During the workshop, we engaged with representatives from local and national authorities in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, as well as European organizations like the EC Joint Research Centre and The Alexandra Institute. Interesting day in Brussels yesterday at the 2nd Belgian Data Spaces Day. A broad overview of business, policy and technical topics and applications in several sectorial working groups. During the business track I had the chance to present my viewpoint on data spaces business models. 💡 Data spaces hold a lot of value. However, the fact that there are distributed systems composed of a lot of actors with diverse incentives largely complicates the quest for an appropriate business model. The business models for the different actors are to be aligned. 💡 Taking a step back and focusing on understanding some essential concepts is essential.
