This Thursday at MCEC! Looking forward to hearing from Libby Staggs presentation and then unpacking this important issue in our industry with these experts on the panel including Katherine Featherstone Product Aware asks suppliers questions around modern slavery - for example if they have had any incidences in their supply chain and if they have a Modern Slavery Action Plan. It may sound like a hard task to abolish modern day slavery but we felt this was such an important factor to highlight and prioritise when selecting products. We know that supply chains involve labour that can be hard to trace, but that doesn’t mean we can be complacent. Slavery is regrettably embedded in the history of the construction industry and continues today. Unfortunately many people forget about the construction industry when discussing these issues and instead focus on for example, only the fashion industry. Hopefully we can work together as an industry to end these harmful working conditions for other people, like ourselves, with families, who deserve respect.
