✨ Day 4 of 5: animating Oscars 2024 Best Picture nominee posters ✨ We finally come to the BIG BOI HIMSELF - Mr. Oppie. Let's be honest, come this weekend, we all know who's going to be winning at the Academy Awards - Cillian Murphy, Christopher Nolan, Ludwig Göransson, and the rest of the Oppie crew are going to be lifting many, many trophies. 🏆 I initially thought this would be the hardest poster to animate, due to just HOW MUCH is going on - sparks, flares, flames, smoke - but it all cleaned up surprisingly easily, and it looks really good in motion. I couldn't *quite* get the smoke background exactly the same - I would have to do a custom smoke sim, which I didn't have the time to figure out - but I think the spirit of the thing is captured. 🎬 Short review of Oppenheimer: well deserving of all the praise it's getting. Not my favourite Nolan film - but it retains all the Nolan bombast, which is crazy when you consider that most of the film is just men sitting around and talking. The pace is so relentless, it leaves you breathless.
