There is significant confusion about when to utilize #G2211. In 2021 with the restructuring of the evaluation and management codes there was more value placed on surgical services. At the same time, optometrists who provide care for single serious conditions or complex chronic conditions had their services undervalued! In 2024, that value has been recognized in the G2211 add on code. Understanding that the medicare national average for this code is ~$16 (on top of your appropriate 992XX code) will add significant revenue to many office visits (Medicare estimates between 30% and 60% of all office visits will have this add on code applied to it). We created this module to help ODs understand exactly how to utilize the code in an appropriate manner AND protect against audits.
