The Lawyers' Therapist 🧠 😃 | Multi-award winning therapy & training for law firms & lawyers | Former City Solicitor | Key Note Speaker | Founder of TCC | Practical wellbeing that ACTUALLY makes a difference 😃 ✨
Have you found your mental health 👩🏾⚕️compromised by excessive viewing of ‘One Day’ this year? Found yourself crying 😭 buckets while your loved ones try desperately to reason with you “it’s fictional. It’s not real!” Then entered into some sort of mental fugue state drifting around for days asking “why, God, why…when Dexter had finally changed 🤷🏾♀️?” OK - the above may be my autobiographical account. But…if this has also happened to you recently…I have a cure! A walking 🚶♀️ cure. Because David Nicholls’ latest book is really clever for a few reasons: - The premise is two virtual strangers who end up on a walking tour in the North of England through a mutual friend. And there are reasons why the spotlight is not on them getting together. So it highlights how much easier it is to get to know someone organically, whilst walking over a period of time. Rather than in a forced dating situation in some soulless posh restaurant 🍽️. - It highlights issues no one talks about much - like being childfree/childless. How isolating that can be in a world that focuses on families and children. And male broodiness - which Natalie Sutherland also brilliantly highlights in her latest Infertility in the City podcast - And the experience of being out of step in ‘middle age’. When you’re in your late 30s and early 40s and out of the back of a separation/divorce when most of your friends are coupled up and busy with kids. - And finally how trauma of all types can get stuck in our bodies. And how often just talking isn’t enough (I know that’s a weird thing for a counsellor to say). But it’s that combination of physical therapy (whether walking 🚶, yoga 🧘🏾♀️, horse riding 🏇 or anything else) and talking that can really shift it. In this Mental Health Awareness Week dedicated to movement, I highly recommend this book 📕! #MHAW #mentalhealthawarenessweek #therapy

It's #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, so I wanted to share something personal with you... As a British Asian man, mental health is often overlooked or taboo in our communities. But it's time to change that narrative. It's time to come together and break these barriers. Movement has always been my therapy. Running, hiking, adventuring—these activities have been my sanctuary. This year's theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is movement, and I couldn't agree more with its healing power. For me, running isn't just about physical exercise; it's about clearing my mind, finding solace in nature, and connecting with something greater than myself. And as a Muslim, my faith plays a significant role in this journey. In Islam, we're taught to take care of our bodies and minds. Our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of physical activity and spending time in nature. It's a reminder that taking care of our mental health is not just acceptable—it's encouraged. So let's break the silence. Let's open up about our struggles and seek support when we need it. Let's embrace movement as a form of self-care and healing. And let's remember that we're not alone in this journey. Together, we can shatter the stigma surrounding mental health and create a more compassionate, understanding society. #MentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness #GetOutside https://lnkd.in/dQn278HX

🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸 As we celebrate independence day today, let's also take a moment to recognize and honor the journey towards personal freedom for many individuals facing mental health challenges and substance use recovery. Independence comes in many forms. For some, it’s about breaking free from the chains of addiction. For others, it’s about finding peace amidst the storm of mental health struggles. Today, we salute the courage and resilience of those who are on this path to recovery and well-being. 🎇 Support Systems: Just as our country thrives on unity, recovery is bolstered by community. Reach out, lend a hand, and be the support someone might need. 🎆 Self-Care: Take this day to reflect on your own mental health. Self-care isn't selfish—it's essential. Whether it's through meditation, spending time with loved ones, or simply taking a moment to breathe, prioritize your well-being. 🎇 Celebrate Progress: Every step forward, no matter how small, is a victory. Celebrate your progress and the progress of others in their recovery journey. On this day of freedom and celebration, let’s pledge to support each other in achieving personal independence from the challenges we face. Together, we can create a stronger, healthier community. #IndependenceDay #MentalHealth #SubstanceUseRecovery #Support #SelfCare #Community #CelebrateProgress Wishing everyone a safe, healthy, and happy 4th of July!

I have always wondered how I was able to deal with the amount of trauma I went through. I feel like I could have just as easily stumbled upon a dangerous path. I remember finding escape in movies, art, and English when I was little. My grandparents’ house was also one of them; it felt safe, and I was respected with kindness. But I always felt alone in what I was going through, not having anyone else to understand and confide in. I also struggle with PCOS, along with depression. I feel like I’m on the hardest level of a game, and new updates seem to come out of nowhere frequently, just to mess it up more. It can be so hard to do littlest things all while trying to stay motivated to exercise and eat healthy. I feel like giving up almost everyday! I’m sure I’m not alone in this, and I hope to meet people and listen to their stories. So, starting a community like this was always in the picture for me, and being able to do it with Vaishnavi is the cherry on top. I remember seeing her post on LinkedIn about her struggle with mental health and decided to send a message about it. I’m so glad I did because we talked so much after that and found we had many things in common, including the passion to build a community where people feel safe and able to share about their mental health journey. - Xx Tcha . . . #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthadvocate #mentalillness #mentalhealthjourney #mentallyme

It's Mental Health Awareness Week! 🧠 ‘Movement: Moving more for our mental health’ is the theme of Mental Health Awareness Week 2024. Since 2001, the Mental Health Foundation has been leading Mental Health Awareness Week - bringing together the UK to focus on getting good mental health. Each May, millions of people from every part of society take part. They include people in schools and further education; private, public and charity sectors; families and individuals. Why movement matters? Being physically active is great for our bodies and our minds. Exercise has been proven to reduce anxiety and depression, and it can help us to prevent physical illnesses. Sadly, people living with mental illness die on average 20 years younger than the general population, often from avoidable physical illness. This group is more likely to develop preventable conditions like diabetes, heart disease, bowel cancer and breast cancer. Move your way! Movement doesn’t need to look like going to the gym, running a marathon or taking part in a team sport – and it doesn’t need to cost the earth. It can be as simple as stepping off the bus a stop early, moving a 1-2-1 meeting to a walking call, giving your child a push on a park swing after school, or dancing in your kitchen while you cook dinner. #mentalhealthawarenessweek2024 #moveforyourmentalhealth

helping brands create impact through internet, trying to help others by sharing my personal journey with mental health
Rucha and I have worked on this for a while now and we couldn't be more proud of this initiative. The core purpose is to make it easier for humans to talk about mental illness as normally as any physical illness and of course execute our phase 5 plan as soon as possible! 5 years of turning this into reality. I thought I will have a lot to say, but I don't. . . . #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthadvocate #mentalillness #mentalhealthjourney #mentallyme
I was admitted for the nth time for panic attacks in 2020 (well, now I know the term for all the uneasiness in my chest, hands, breathing, and the numbness in my body). It has been almost 4 years since then, and after dealing with clinical depression, losing myself, losing the people I love, and spending months and years not knowing why giving up on life seemed easier than waking up and actually trying to live it, after realising that privilege doesn’t equate to a perfect life and craving for others’ ‘normal’ lives, I realised that all I needed, or rather still need, is for someone to understand me. No, not to sympathise with me, just to listen and understand me, to remind me that my presence isn’t completely insignificant and that I matter. I have spent the last few years learning about other people’s experiences, their traumas, their struggles with mental health, and we all came to one conclusion: despite the availability of the best resources around us, talking about awareness around the topic, offering professional therapy from the awesome therapists and mental healthcare that we have in our country, we have not yet been able to remove the judgment attached to it. We have failed as a community to create a safe space for each one of us to talk about our emotions, and if we do, we only talk about them when we have made it to the top. It’s sad that we are still stuck in self critical cycles, failing to acknowledge the suffering of those around us and sometimes even when it comes to validating our own. What I have learned from my experience is that this isn’t our fault but just the way society functions at large. I want everyone including myself to know that being vulnerable isn’t a weakness only because you went through bad experiences, it’s the strongest thing ever! With this community, me along with Rucha (I will soon share the story of how we came together, wink wink) and all you beautiful souls, aim to change that. To change society and the way we think about therapy and mental health, sometimes through words, sometimes through art, and sometimes just by listening to one another. <3 . . . #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthadvocate #mentalillness #mentalhealthjourney #mentallyme
