dYdX is a leading decentralized exchange that currently supports perpetual trading. The exchange runs on smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain and allows users to trade with no intermediaries. Early Monday morning, dYdX encountered a long halt lasting 9 hours and 32 minutes. This major outage was a consequence of a scheduled v4 upgrade to the chain. Following approximately nine and a half hours of downtime, dYdX implemented a fix for the software bug, allowing enough validators to engage, consequently enabling dYdX to recommence block production midway through Monday. The root cause of the chain halt was said to be the incorporation of an incorrect version of a bug fix from Cosmos’ IAVL library into the dYdX software release. The web3 interoperability market size is significant. Here's why:  1. The Current Total Value Locked (TVL) in all chains is approximately $98 billion according to DeFiLama. 2. The market cap of the top 100 coins and tokens is around $2.5 trillion as per CoinMarketCap. 3. If the Percentage of Assets Moved (PAM) of interoperability solutions is around 1%, it amounts to $26 billion. In 2023, the projected profit of the top 10 interoperability solutions is roughly $3 billion. However, these solutions face stiff competition from Centralized Exchanges (CEX). CEXs earn a significant amount from withdrawal fees. For instance, Binance earned over $500 million just from withdrawal fees, with the total profit from cross-chain transactions estimated to be around $5 billion. Despite this, the market size of web3 interoperability is even larger, as it encompasses the transfer of native coins and fundable tokens (*rc20 like). The potential for liquidity transfer between chains is enormous, making the web3 interoperability market one of the biggest in the web3 world.
