**Huge news** The national health service (NHS) of UK banned the use of puberty blockers for any children at gender identity clinics. "The ban restricts the NHS from providing the medication outside of clinical trials and prevents it from being prescribed by private suppliers. The NHS stopped prescribing puberty blockers last year, saying there was not enough evidence about the benefits and harms. According to the review commissioned by the NHS, when determining if a treatment should be routinely available, "it is not enough to demonstrate that a medication doesn’t cause harm, it needs to be demonstrated that it will deliver clinical benefit in a defined group of patients". BREAKING: From today, puberty blockers have been banned by the National Health Service in England for the treatment of gender dysphoria but are still available at Victoria’s Royal Children’s and Monash’s children’s gender ID services and privately through GPs and other doctors. In the words of NHS England there "is not enough evidence to support the safety or clinical effectiveness of [puberty blockers] to make the treatment routinely available at this time." The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSAgov), HHS released new guidance about changes to the 2024 Uniform Data System (UDS) report. Under this new requirement FQHCs will now be required to report on the number of patients screened for their family planning needs. The new reporting requirement applies to patients seen after Jan. 1, 2024. When patients are screened for their reproductive health needs, it can prompt important conversations that may otherwise go undressed.
