Making the leap from academia to industry? Buckle up, it's a wild ride! Here are 5 tips to navigate the transition with a smile: 1. Speak up in meetings like your favorite podcast – be heard loud and clear! 2. Find a mentor like a superhero sidekick – they've got your back through thick and thin. Cling to them like a barnacle; they're your corporate lifeline. 3. First impressions are like Tinder dates – no second chances! Code, present and dress to impress. 4. Presentations in industry are a completely new ball game. Show you're ready to hit it out of the park, picking up where the last meeting left off. 5. Want to be the MVP? Rack up those meeting attendance points like frequent flyer miles! The more meetings, the closer to corporate world domination. Bonus Tip: Industry companies thrive on detailed email writing. Don't assume they'll grasp concepts in bits and pieces; spoon-feed them with details. And remember, reply to trailmails rather than crafting something new. Also skim through all emails. All of them. #AcademiaToIndustry #CorporateAdventure

CEO @ Executive Presence | We help companies build trust & awareness through executive thought leadership
Sometimes I get stuck in a calendaring rut, scheduling formal meetings weeks ahead. That’s a problem. My best business insights usually come from impromptu interactions. A prime example? Running into "IRON" Mike Steadman 🥊🏴☠️ in December. We were attending CEOCircle, a veteran CEO event hosted by Bunker Labs and J.P. Morgan. I almost skipped it, thinking my to-do list was more important. What a mistake that would have been. During lunch, Mike pulled his chair up next to mine. We’d spoken before (as guests on our respective podcasts), but we had never met in person. We dove in deep, dissecting our sales strategies and client management techniques. The exchange was electric. Mike had approaches I'd never considered, and I had a few strategies he hadn't tried. That conversation sparked an hour of frenzied brainstorming for me that night. It shifted my perspective on selling and adding value for clients. My advice: Break out of your formal calendaring slog. Seek out spontaneous conversations. They might just be your next big breakthrough.

As we gear up for conference season, I want to share some personal advice that could turn your next presentation from nerve-wracking to career-defining. Here's a little secret I swear by: spend an hour preparing for every minute you'll be speaking. Sounds intense, right? But trust me, this is how you make a real impact and truly connect with your audience. I've learned the hard way that knowing your audience inside out is crucial. Ever heard of the "curse of knowledge"? It's when we forget that not everyone is as familiar with our topic as we are. That's why I've put together a special worksheet to help you get into your audience's heads – it's free and you can grab it at https://lnkd.in/ew6kqtU4 (or through my link in bio). It's all about crafting your message so it lands perfectly, no matter who's listening. And when it comes to delivering that killer presentation, it's all about finding your style. Whether you're a script superstar, a bullet point buff, or somewhere in between, the key is to keep it authentic. I'll also dive into some tricks for taking control of the presentation space itself, so you can present with confidence and keep your audience hanging on every word. So, let's get ready to make your next presentation not just good, but unforgettable. Check out the podcast on our website at www.speakerdynamics.com for all these tips and more. I turn leaders, sales teams & engineers who want to get more yeses into top 2% persuaders and presenters in 15 hours | Keynote speaker | Certified Ethical Persuasion & Presentation skills trainer & coach
Was I proud? Yes! BUT something made me a lot happier. You will understand what made me happier when you get the context of what made me proud “I enjoyed every story you shared on Yet Another Podcast (Jos podkast jedan). I hope we will be able to see you giving a talk in Belgrade.” “I was happy to come across the episode of Yet Another Podcast with you and I am still under the very positive impression you made. I hope the business community becomes aware, sooner rather than later, of how little of their appearances actually people remember. I wish you lots of success on that journey…” And I didn't even know the people who told me this. I sure appreciate it. But what made me happier? I spoke to some of these people and saw what resonated with them. What I saw was people who did not just follow the pattern. They thought for themselves! In the world of corporate presentations, I see a lot of people having the blinkers on. Never questioning if the presentation structures, templates, slides, approaches, are really effective or not. Just following the company patterns. "Everyone uses them, they must be right.” In my 20+ years of experience, 98% of company presentations leave so much money on the table that if the people giving them and their bosses knew, they would be kicking themselves. Why don't they know? Because what they see around themselves is equally ineffective. The bar is too low. Why is it ineffective? Because the widespread practices set the audience’s brain up to mission impossible. And the young people I've talked to paid attention to how those presentations made them feel, to what was going on in their heads and understood how the widely used practices are counter effective. This is why my message resonated with them. Are you sure you don’t have the blinkers on? #presentations #presenting __________________________ Hi My name is Ákos Gerold. I help leaders, sales teams and engineers become top 2% persuaders and presenters. Sounds like what you need? Drop me a line.

I help B2B consultants, fractionals, and service pros shrink the sales cycle and grow their pipeline with an organic growth engine 💛 Build yours in 60 minutes with me 🤝 Top 100 Marketing Pod / Tiny Marketing
The other day, I was on the phone with a prospect, and I said, "You do a lot of speaking engagements. Do they convert to sales?" Their eyebrows scrunched together, thinking for a good, long minute before finally responding. "Actually, no. I don't think we've even tried. It's more for visibility." After that, I begged them if I could audit their speaking sales process. Even if your main goal is visibility, you can SELL. I had a single speaking engagement two years ago that still brings in new work... because I have a process. Here's a 101 on how to sell with speaking: 1. Teach a piece of the process, not the whole thing. Enough where they get results but want more. 2. Have a clear call to action with a landing page. Sending them to your LinkedIn, website, podcast, etc etc etc etc will just confuse them. Send them to ABC[.com]/show to get to everything they need. 3. Provide a clear next step. For example, if you are speaking in person, offer something like. "I can only go so deep in 30 minutes, but next week I'm diving in even deeper with my virtual workshop XYZ. Pull out your phones and sign up using this QR Code. Go on, I'll wait." These three steps will easily start converting an audience to a customer. There's more, but baby steps. What kind of speaking engagements are you doing to grow your business? #eventmarketing #contentmarketing #contentstrategy
