The Rise of the Grand Tour Specialist in the Women's Peloton? Find out more in the latest ProCycling Women article available here: 👇 👇 https://lnkd.in/eU8B9enZ "Historically, women cyclists were all-rounders by necessity. Women’s teams had smaller rosters, and riders were expected to attend most races." "With the rise of the women’s peloton, however, so, too, have the women specialized in their training ... and the Tour de France Femmes has encouraged and enabled that specialization." "The Tour de France Femmes also came with a perhaps unexpected and collateral benefit: it has caused the women’s Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta d’Espana to raise their game significantly." "These factors have combined to create a new, specialized career path for women professional cyclists: the GC rider." #procyclingwomen #womenscycling #womeninsport #watchthefemmes 📸 Unipublic/CXCLING

We need to hear from all female triathletes! SheRaces and Fund Her Tri UK need your help! https://lnkd.in/eq-Zx-q8 We need your help to fully understand the considerations on how to make Triathlon a more gender-inclusive sport so we can create guidelines to support every triathlon and welcome all female athletes. Our research stats from surveys are great for getting attention. Our original finding that almost 90% of women would be more likely to enter races that committed to inclusivity got race directors thinking 💰 But we find it is your race stories that provide the real insight. They help us drive change with races by explaining how issues have affected athletes. WHY we didn’t sign up for a triathlon, or WHY we felt uncomfortable on the start line. What it was that gave us a less-than-perfect race experience or made us feel less valued. We also want to hear what races have done well – what has made a positive difference so we can help other races do the same. Every response is valuable and we need to hear views of a diverse range of athletes – from novice to experienced, of all ages, abilities, ethnicities, backgrounds and preferred triathlon distances. Please support us by sharing with any clubs you are part of and nudging any triathletes you know.
How can we make triathlons better for women?

In a male-dominated cycling arena, we're really proud of the fact that 64% of our Rider Community are female 🚲 🎉 But it raises the question of why? When it comes to concerns about cycling there are many that are unique to women. And, despite all the progress, women are still disproportionately responsible for looking after children and doing domestic tasks, which has made using a bike as transportation relatively unviable. E-cargo bikes are answering some of these challenges, and so is our our service offering, which makes our customers feel safer and more supported on the road. Find out more about the challenges facing women in cycling and what we can do about it in our latest blog post 👉 https://lnkd.in/gw7k2FwG #IWD #InternationalWomensDay #InvestInWomen #WomenInCycling #inspireinclusion #micromobility #OneLessCar #NoCarNoWorries #GoodMove #LugAndCarrie

🌟 A Weekend of Triumph: The BTT Sussex and London Experience at the Super Series World Championship Triathlon🌟 This weekend marked a milestone for the The Black Tri Tribe (BTT) community. Members from Sussex and London gathered to witness the sheer magnitude of human potential at the British Triathlon Federation supertri World Championship. It was a spectacle of endurance, where every stroke, pedal, and step was a testament to the power of perseverance. For the first time, I immersed myself in the thrill of the live event—both in-person and virtually. The electric atmosphere was palpable, as we watched athletes like Beth Potter and @Cassandre Beaugrand delivered performances that transcended the ordinary. Their grit and grace on this global stage brought the entire arena to its feet, uniting us in awe. As the founder of the Black Tri Tribe and a steadfast advocate for inclusivity in sports, this event resonated deeply. It was a celebration of what we stand for—a world where the starting line is accessible to all, and every finish is a collective victory for diversity. Beth and Cassandre didn't just race; they paved the way for female athletes everywhere, showcasing the boundless potential of women in sport. Their success is our inspiration. It fuels our mission to lower barriers and champion the involvement of Black and Asian communities in triathlon. As a community leader, it reaffirms my commitment to empowering our members through the transformative power of sport. We are more than a community; we are a force for change. Let’s carry this energy forward. Let’s make the impossible, possible—together. #BlackTriTribe #TriathlonInspiration #FemaleEmpowerment #CommunityLeadership #InclusiveSport

Pedals of Progress: Women Steering the Cycling Revolution On International Women's Day, we spotlight the indelible mark women have made on the cycling landscape. From early adventurers defying norms to modern-day champions breaking records, women have cycled beyond mere recreation, using bikes as instruments of empowerment and change. Historic figures like Annie Londonderry set the wheels of change in motion, proving the bicycle to be a symbol of freedom. The competitive scene too has seen legends; Beryl Burton and Marianne Vos are just the tip of the iceberg, inspiring a new generation of female cyclists. Beyond competition, women have spearheaded cycling advocacy, pushing for safer and more inclusive spaces for all cyclists. Innovations in design and technology also bear the mark of women's ingenuity, making cycling more accessible and enjoyable. Yet, hurdles remain. Gender disparities in professional cycling, safety concerns, and representation gaps call for continued action. International Women's Day is both a celebration of strides made and a clarion call for the journey ahead towards equality in cycling. As we pedal forward, let's honor the trailblazers and support the rising tide of women in cycling, driving towards a future where the road is open to all. #WomenInCycling #PedalsOfProgress #CyclingRevolution #InternationalWomensDay #EmpowermentOnWheels #BreakTheBias #RideLikeAGirl #CyclingForChange #BicyclesAndEmpowerment #WomenWhoCycle

New research from the European Cyclists' Federation (ECF), a Brussels-based advocacy group, has confirmed that if a city has more bike lanes, more people will cycle. The results will give campaigners and urban planners a substantial footing to argue for more cycling infrastructure in towns and cities around the world. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eCzXNS24

IMBA Europe is tackling diversity in the cycling/mtb sector by walking the walk - or it is riding the ride? The #IMBASummit2024 will have 40% female speakers and panelists. Additionally, they have set an ambitious target of 30% female participation in the event (from 18% in previous years). Fantastic initiative by the team - Cathy Naveaux Thomas Larsen Schmidt Manon Carpenter Mark Torsius During the summit, we seek to have diverse voices and thoughts at every table throughout the program. Additionally, there will be a women`s only meeting in which to speak about challenges specific to the MTB sector and together, identify which issues we should focus on in the future. Why women only? To create a safe space in which to share and be heard. If you are a woman in this broad sector of MTB industry (guides, instructors, academic, commercial, manufacturing, policy), I invite you to come and have your ideas heard as we seek to build a better trail together. 🚵♀️ https://lnkd.in/euQc4Ea5

Working and writing about women and cycling is both a passion and a responsibility. Cycling has long been a male-dominated sport, but women have always been a vital part of its history. Today, more than ever, women cyclists are breaking barriers, pushing limits, and creating space for others to join. As a writer, capturing these stories feels like a way to give voice to a community that is often underrepresented, whether it’s highlighting professional athletes, advocating for safer urban cycling spaces, or celebrating women who cycle for fun or fitness. The world of women’s cycling is incredibly diverse—riders come from all walks of life and ride for different reasons, yet they face common challenges like inequity in sponsorships, media coverage, and race opportunities. Writing about these issues isn’t just about chronicling the sport; it's about pushing for change, ensuring that more women feel encouraged to get on bikes and see themselves reflected in the cycling community. Through stories of triumph, struggle, and advocacy, we can inspire the next generation of female cyclists and help build a future where women are equally represented on and off the bike. 🚴 #tourism #journalism #cycling #cycletourism
