Mae pobl eisiau economi lle mae cyfoeth yn cael ei gadw a'i rannu yn eu cymuned. Ym Mlaenau Ffestiniog, mae hyn yn dod yn realiti - darllennwch fwy yn yr adroddiad... "Many people want an economy in which wealth is retained and shared in their community. In Blaenau Ffestiniog, that is becoming a reality – and we went to find out more. In the past, industries such as coal and slate devastated the environment and blighted lives, while the profits were enjoyed by mine and quarry owners. Today, it is industries such as tourism and energy production which extract wealth from local communities. Increasingly, people want to build a different kind of economy – one in which the wealth they create is retained and shared locally, which is sustainable environmentally, and which supports people’s languages and cultures. This community or social enterprise approach has been around for some time. However, progress is slow. But in Blaenau Ffestiniog there are so many social enterprises that they are forming the foundations of a new type of economy. There is a better way forward for Wales. Plenty of good examples of this working across the country. It doesnt have to be more of the same extractive exploitation of our resources. Like Scotland we can be a net exporter of energy and water, but the benefits from that should come back to the communities that produce it - and not to shareholders of power companies and investment trusts in the USA and other countries. Need more home grown investment? Easy - we have large public sector pension funds that need to invest funds for the longer term - what could be better than investing in long term infrastructure within Wales, reaping ample stable returns for pension beneficiaries and avoiding putting investment into oil and gas, tobacco, and other harmful industries. #Defrwch / #Wakeup Cymru.

🌱 Turning Local Actions into Global Waves of Change: A Journey with the Platform for Social Change 🌱 Imagine a small village nestled in the heart of Ukraine, where the spirit of community thrives but economic opportunities seem just out of reach. This isn't just a story; it's a reality for many rural communities facing decline and the urgent need for sustainable development. That's where the Platform for Social Change steps in, weaving local knowledge and resources into a tapestry of global impact. 🌍✨ Our Journey of Challenges and Triumphs: Embarking on this mission wasn't without its hurdles. The biggest challenge? Convincing rural entrepreneurs that their local knowledge and resources were not just valuable but vital for sustainable change. The skepticism was palpable, and the path was fraught with obstacles, from bridging the gap between rural potential and urban markets to addressing the stark inequality in entrepreneurial opportunity. Yet, through perseverance and a deep belief in our mission, we've seen transformative success. One such success story is a small community enterprise that turned local organic farming practices into a thriving business, connecting with urban markets and promoting sustainable agriculture. 🚜💼 Our Approach: Local Roots, Global Impact: At the heart of our strategy is the belief that local actions can drive global change. We focus on empowering rural communities by: - Addressing rural decline through sustainable business models. - Empowering the next generation with youth employment initiatives. - Leveraging local knowledge to develop community-specific solutions. - Promoting income diversification to supplement traditional activities. - Focusing attention on marginalized groups within rural settings. Real Results, Real Impact: Since 2022-2023, our mentoring program has supported the creation of 40 small businesses, employing 53 individuals and fostering a sense of community and economic growth. These efforts not only contribute to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8 (Economic Growth) but also SDG 11 (Sustainable Communities) and SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), showcasing the multifaceted impact of our initiatives. Collaboration at Its Core: Our work is grounded in collaboration, partnering with local organizations to facilitate community-driven socio-economic planning. This participatory approach has not only fostered active citizenship but has also built capacity among vulnerable groups, promoting social inclusion and environmental sustainability. 👉 Join Us on This Transformative Journey: Let's collaborate to transform rural decline into vibrant, sustainable communities. We're not just building businesses; we're nurturing ecosystems of change. #SocialEntrepreneurship #StandWithUkraine #PlatformForSocialChange
