The D-Tech RST and BICO BEAST motor combination successfully completed 9,730 ft in 35 drilling hours, reducing the operator's overall lateral cost per foot in 28 viscosity, water-based mud. The RST drilled the well in one steering mode (inc hold 2) for 92% of the operation, helping to further improve performance and efficiency. They wanted to optimize their drilling performance and reduce the cost per lateral foot. Our team worked with a customer drilling in Irion County, Texas, who wanted to improve drilling economics and reduce their cost per lateral foot in the Midland Basin. D-Tech recommended utilizing their rotary steerable system to increase drilling efficiencies in the extended-reach lateral by reducing tortuosity and eliminating sliding. The D-Tech tool successfully drilled 6,000+ ft in 24 hours, setting a new record for the operator.
