Salaried GP vs. Locum GP... 👨⚕️ 👩⚕️ As a recruiter that works in the permanent space, this question is raised on a daily basis and I wanted to share my opinion that has been molded through working with salaried and locums alike. Salaried GP work offers a secure and consistent income, with a regular salary, and ultimately the chance to progress to senior positions seeing the fruits of the hard work through your career. Through this, you are able to explore more leadership and service transformation work which can prove very rewarding and enriching moving out of clinical responsibilities. There are of course a number of pros to working as a Locum GP including lucrative rates, flexibility of hours and the chance to work across a number of clinics. The Department of Aged Care (DoHAC) released an eye-opening report in August, 2024 detailing the gravity of the GP shortage in Australia. Despite a growing number of GPs in Australia, that number continues to fail to keep up with growing demand. The report predicted a shortfall of 2400 full-time equivalent GPs in 2024, rising to 3900 by 2028 and 6100 by 2048. The reality is that practices that don’t use recruiters will struggle to find suitable candidates. This leads to increased hiring costs and longer vacancy periods. https://lnkd.in/g7D96Ynh as many of you may know, I was one of those doctors that was targeted for prosecution, no it was not because of opiates like they say, no there was no Medicare fraud, they convicted me for 10 mg of oxycodone twice a day. luckily, I was wondering if you doctors that went his appeal. since my luck, a numerous of the doctors have been acquitted. but here's what we all have in common. we cannot find jobs. we have even reached out to recruiters here on LinkedIn, and every single one has ghosted me. My first thought was I'm screwed for life, because of Google. I even thought about suing Google. but then, my next door neighbor who's an aerospace engineer was let go, and he looked at jobs for 3 and 1/2 years, he even went through an interview in Florida. it turns out that they were just interviewing they were an interested in hiring him. and then, it hit me. I did some research. and I saw a news report on what they called ghost jobs. I was shocked to see that a large portion of jobs that are posted or not real they are ghost jobs. in fact one-third of employers that were questioned admitted that they just posted a jobs to appease their employees to make it seem like they were hiring. not to mention that they get tax breaks due to COVID for just posting that hiring. numerous big medical centers are closing. there's a critical shortage of doctors especially in Georgia for 27 counties don't have doctors. but yet the Georgia board takes this time. there is no sense of urgency they don't want to hire doctors here. I got called by a rep from New Zealand and Saudi Arabia and I'm really considering them. American healthcare is dead. there is a neurologist job at Indiana has been looking for 17 years. now tell me that's not a ghost job

I started in the recruitment industry in 2011 as a consultant in the nursing division. Before this, I worked in management (retail) and wasn’t familiar with recruitment least the industry. I very quickly realized my potential in this area and began relying on building rapport, listening to the candidates’ needs, and working alongside the company’s client teams to work out the best from what was available. It seemed like a natural fit to my personality which progressed into being able to see the potential future shortfalls, and the peaks and troughs of the market, building up to over 60 working candidates and becoming the company’s leading biller. Along this part of the journey, I became a Team Leader for six other recruiters, but I still had a lot to learn about motivating a team. After a few years, I realized my progression didn't align with the company’s direction, and I took a step out into a new company. I saw that an agency that you really have has two sets of customers - the client (hospital) and the candidate (health care provider), and if I could ensure that I was honest and equal with both parties, I was more than likely to succeed. I was able to onboard some fantastic clients that not only helped the company’s revenues but also supported hospitals that had off-framework supply or tier 3 supply, that they hadn't been able to shift for some time! From here I took the third of my four steps – starting up my own acute division as an associate director. This journey took me out of my known comfort zone, and my previous skills and personality traits would only have got me so far. I spent a lot of time learning more about the financial aspects of running a company, the vision, scope, and motivation needed, and most importantly, how to describe each of those to various levels of staff, both below and above my own position. This took the longest of any of my onboarding skill sets, but after time I was able to develop a team that made over £250,000 GM per month, supported frameworks in their approach to the NHS, and increased patient care through the large influx of workers onto the wards. The final step was to, then, do this for myself! Starting Connect Medical Solutions was an easy decision, but the work to go into it has been difficult, albeit very rewarding. Now when I visit a client, I know I am making a true difference. When I am getting a candidate paid the same day and they send a timesheet; I know I am helping them through this cost of living crisis. When I am giving a promotion to a partnered team member of my Indian team, I know I am going to be proud of what they do for themselves and the company. With its new framework season, I am excited to see what 2024 will bring, and what other differences we can all make in it.
