Always think safety 👀⚠️🚨 A delivery requires 3 parts typically. A dismount of our forklift, an unload, and a remount… The scenario: A busy road, a national limit dropping into a 40mph residential road is a recipe for cars that are often doing a LOT more than 40mph. The road itself is very wide and can easily fit 4 cars abreast which really only exacerbates the speed problem. Every single delivery George Davies Turf is different and has to be dynamically risk assessed by the driver before starting to complete the process of unloading… My favourite way to mitigate risk to everyone involved and critically those NOT involved in a delivery is to move the lorry 3 times in a scenario like this. 1. Park up before the drive to dismount and put the Manitou Forklift on the drive. 2. Move the truck forward slightly to allow the driveway access to the load bed, to allow the unload. 3. Move the truck forward past the driveway to allow a seamless remount. This technique means the only thing I need to worry about through the whole process is crossing the pavement and keeping any passing pedestrians safe while doing so. It takes an extra 2 cab “in and outs” but if that makes everything safer and easier I’m all for it… Delivery complete ✅ #TheLandscapersChoice #turf #logistics #transport
