During VIVATECH week, interesting topics were discussed. Such as a session of open questions with Elon Musk and a discussion: where will GenAI take us in the next decade? This is where all the doubts I also had were raised: Is it safe? Are we sure we have it under control? Will it bring out the best in us? Will people lose their jobs? Thomas Wolf was making a point: we think about AI very small, very boring; we luck imagination when we think about AI. We can do so much more! On the other side Connor Leahy mentioned his concerns that there is no “one person” responsible for AI, if something goes wrong. Elon Musk shared similar vision, saying that if AI can do everything better than us, then deeper questions arise: what is our mission and purpose? (Though, today’s AI doesn’t have enough critical thinking, sometimes it proposes information not necessarily verified and true). This duality makes me reflect, that indeed, we cannot stop the progress even if we are unsure of the outcome. But probably, and I would agree, the best is to insure that we and our children have strong values and clear purpose, as well as critical thinking, in order to create the best version of the future to arrive. 💦🌱
