St. Patrick's Festival and Dublin City Council are delighted to announce the opening of applications for the St. Patrick’s Festival Relaxed Parade Space at this year’s national St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Monday March 17th. With an estimated 500,000 people expected to come out to witness the spectacle of the Parade, some of the factors that make up the typical parade experience – loud noise, crowds, unpredictability - can be overwhelming and can act as a barrier for access to many members of the neurodiverse community. The Relaxed Parade Space, brought to you by Dublin City Council, with additional support from AsIAm, Neurodiversity Ireland and Bank of Ireland, is a space designed to support the needs of neurodivergent families and individuals, and those with sensory processing differences, ensuring that the St. Patrick's Day Parade is a safe and happy place for all to enjoy. Located at Bank of Ireland College Green, with access points at either end, the Relaxed Parade Space will be open from 10am – 4pm and will offer attendees a safe space, away from the crowded streets from which to view and enjoy the parade. We would advise attendees to arrive by 11:30am to avoid possible heavy congestion around the area. The space will remain open after the Parade until 4pm to give people some time for the large crowds to move out of the area closest to the Relaxed Parade Space. Please note that access to the Relaxed Parade Space is via wristbands only. Families who wish to avail of the Relaxed Parade Space are asked to register their interest via this application form by Thursday 13 February at 5pm: https://bit.ly/RPSApp25 If you have any issues or queries regarding this form, please contact us on info@stpatricksfestival.ie. #SPF25 #RelaxedParadeSpace #Inclusivity #StPatricksDayParade #Dublin

Maps are inherently actionable! They're asking you to understand an area, get out there, see it for yourself. That's why we knew we had to build routes into PamPam. While it was one of our trickier features to build (and we're still improving it!), seeing how people use it has been worth the effort - from roadtrip planning to street festivals and parade routes. Take the upcoming Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, for example. Now organizers can show not just the route, but use icons and text to highlight the best viewing spots and areas to avoid. Planning a street festival, parade, or other community event? Happy to chat about how mapping could help. #CommunityEngagement #PublicSpaces

We hope you will enjoy the trailers for this thoughtful film called "The Ride Ahead." From the movie website, "Samuel Habib is a typical 21-year-old, itching to move out, start a career and find love. But no one tells you how to be an adult, let alone an adult with a disability. Can a community of disability activists help him follow his dreams?" Learn more about this film at https://lnkd.in/d-bwFeZw.

Please share: Be part of the conversation: To ensure that our event is truly inclusive, we offer a number of free and discounted passes to those who need them to the Festival of Place on 4 July. Simply fill in this form, and we'll be in touch. Tickets include a delicious lunch from Boxpark Wembley's food traders. If you are a student, a professional facing hardship or you work for a small charity, and want to learn and participate in a meaningful event on how to make inclusive urban places, we want you there. Apply for discounted tickets here -> https://lnkd.in/gwTcmw-W Alternatively, if you can afford to, please buy a ticket or become an organisation member, so that we can continue to hold this space – a space in which a different kind of built environment industry comes together to build partnerships and form teams aligned towards making a positive social and environmental impact. The purpose of the Festival of Place is to host a welcoming and inclusive conversation and create a built environment industry where everyone belongs and can participate in the conversation about the future of UK places – where people and nature thrive. It also improves the event, prevents groupthink, welcomes in fresh and diverse voices and challenges preconceptions. To make this happen, I need your help. Together, we must create a safe space as speakers and attendees: To be kind and respectful to each other, to put aside cynicism and open up to new ways of thinking and being, and approach the day in the spirit of learning and listening. Tickets on sale at www.festivalofplace.co.uk #festivalofplace #ukproperty #architecture

Warning: this is not a conference for the built environment. If you come to Pattern Festival 2024 expecting a standard industry experience, you won’t get one. We aim to entertain, inform, inspire and surprise you. Our placemaking event is a festival, not a conference. We’ve deliberately chosen to call it that. What makes it a festival? We’ve got a varied lineup of guest speakers, panellists and presenters, many of whom you wouldn’t normally associate with the built environment. We want to move the dial, celebrate grassroots activity and put progressive placemaking firmly on the agenda. Why don’t you join us? Pattern Festival 2024 is on 19 June, at x+why, Victoria Embankment, Manchester. Tickets are on sale now. Limited availability. www.patternfest.com

Imagine traveling to support an #HBCU promoted event, and being sorely disappointed by not only the level of communication for the event, but the overall logistics. Traveled for the #orangeblossomclassic, not only was it unclear how to get to and from the stadium for those not driving it was a horrible post-game experience. Imagine, those over 65 walking over a mile and a half, crossing 27th Ave which is a highway to stand on the side of the highway at night waiting on ride-share service to try and find you. Imagine being sent to what is a dark, empty place next to a waterway and a poorly managed sidewalk to stand and wait for someone to hopefully find you to give you a ride amongst another 65 or so people hoping for the same thing. Now, #logistical failure doesn't quite cover it and to say the impression left on me and several others was NEVER to return not only for thr classic but to the stadium. How does this become viewed as acceptable? Is the front office of the event so far removed from the fan experience they truly don't know what's going in? Is the #frontoffice aware, and not phased by it? Is it because it's an #HBCU event that things were handled and managed the way they were? Are humans that expendable? This needs to be addressed, someone needs to find out how far and wide this level of dissatisfaction reaches. DATA, drives improvement and process evaluation. I'd be interested in knowing how the numbers of attendance over the years have been affected Ted by these very things. If you know ANYONE affiliated with the top seats at the table for this and other events like it, please reach out. I'd love to help, and provide real world and life feedback.
