Raise the bar…. Yesterday I had a stare down with the squat bar, that piece of elongated iron just laying there… growling at me… Such a story of doubt and fear and drudgery I’d created, all because it was leg day. I strolled into the gym with a smile but was down low a bit timid and filled with dread. The day before was upper body and I walked in pumped and excited to get after my workout. I worked through the sets, adding more weight to my old iron pal, which I’ve grown to enjoy and respect. But what happens…this is the same bar I use for squats. Why does that bar get so angry on squat days? The difference in both days was all in my mind. What we tell ourselves is exactly what we experience… How can that same bar be so different on any given day… That bar and I have a relationship and days I’m encouraging myself or welcoming discomfort, we are in flow. And the days the doubt takes over or I’m not fully present, that same bar becomes an unforgiving menace. The bar can be an analogy for many things (insert yours here)… But please hear this…Whatever we may be going through, just know, that the discomfort is building us, shaping us and making us stronger…And days we smile into discomfort’s face, we might just be able to push a little harder. #dedication #mindmastery #motivation #raisethebar

**21 Days - For a New Habit?** As part of our local fitness group, we participated in a 21-days Plank Challenge. The first 7 days felt easy. The second 7 days challenged us mentally with self-doubts. The last 7 days were about gaining the self-confidence to continue the journey. It was very interesting to see how such a simple exercise could challenge us "mentally" in such a significant way. Here are a few takeaways from this challenge: 1. **Consistency is Key**: To establish any new habit (no matter how small the time investment), it is beneficial to do it at the same time every day. This way, the mind doesn't need to work/remind us daily. In short, it becomes "muscle memory" after a few weeks. 2. **Start Small**: It is absolutely fine to start small and increase the duration gradually (e.g., by 10% each week if necessary). We also deserve to be gentle with ourselves. 3. **Self-Competition**: The best competitor is the person you see in the mirror. Smile at yourself and promise to come back the next day. 4. **Forgiveness and Persistence**: It is possible to miss a few days in the journey. This is quite normal. The important thing is not to give up. Remember what Djokovic once said - it's okay to make mistakes; what's important is how quickly we shift our focus to make a comeback. 5. **Add Fun to the Journey**: Having fun makes it easier for our minds to accept change. Figure out how to add a fun element to the journey, such as playing music or doing it in groups from time to time. Since we're talking about the plank exercise, why not learn a bit more about it? https://lnkd.in/gt5WPbjq

Founder & Director | Trauma Healing Menopause and wellbeing retreats with Horses Helping you become trauma informed in the workplace
We often forget to listen to our bodies. The hustle of everyday life takes over, and we lose that sense of connection to what’s really going on inside. But what if I told you that horses can teach us how to listen again? Horses live in the present moment—constantly attuned to their environment and their bodies. When you spend time with them, they help you come back to the now. 🐴 If you’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed, take a few minutes today to try this: 🌟 Grounding Exercise Inspired by Horses 🌟 1. Close your eyes and take a slow, deep breath. 2. Focus on your feet pressing into the ground. Feel that connection to the earth, just like a horse feeling the rhythm of its own steps. 3. Now, pay attention to the sensations in your body—your breath, your heartbeat, any tension you’re holding. Don’t judge it, just notice. By grounding yourself, you start to feel again, without the noise of everything else. Horses remind us to embrace that stillness and check in with what we’re truly feeling. Practise this regularly to get back in touch with your body, your emotions, and your peace of mind. When you’re ready to deepen this experience, I’d love to show you how horses can be your partners in emotional well-being, offering a space for profound healing and self-discovery." Did this exercise help? Drop a comment below about your experience or share it with someone who might need this reminder today. #MindfulnessWithHorses #GroundingTechniques #EmotionalWellBeing #SomaticHealing #PresenceOverPerfection #MentalHealthMatters #HealingWithNature
