Confined Space Rescue: Rapid Response, Every Time ⚡ Working in confined spaces presents unique safety challenges. At Sutro Group, our confined space rescue teams are highly trained and equipped to handle emergency situations swiftly and effectively. On a recent project in an industrial facility, our team was called in to conduct a confined space inspection of a hazardous waste tank. Prior to the inspection, we rehearsed our rescue procedures multiple times to ensure every team member was familiar with their role in the event of an emergency. Thankfully, the inspection went smoothly, but the preparation paid off, as it ensured our team could respond instantly if needed. Here's how we're leading the way in harm avoidance and service strike reduction: Harm Avoidance: We've been driving down service strikes year on year for the past 3 years with our robust harm avoidance strategies, with a reduction of 62% in 2023 from previous years. Service Avoidance Leadership Group: This dedicated team is at the forefront of promoting harm avoidance across our business and includes employees from all levels, ranging from Directors to Machine Operators. Every member of this group have signed a specially developed Charter to reflect their commitment to ongoing safety awareness, as well as encouraging safe digging practices and ensuring safety around both underground & overhead services. Vacuum Excavation: We prioritise using vacuum excavators on our sites to enhance safety. This technology prevents operatives from breaking ground manually, reducing the risk of accidents and damage to underground utilities, and ensuring a safer working environment. USAG Members: We're proud members of the Utility Services Avoidance Group (USAG), working together to promote best practices in the industry.
