Members from Dunaway's structural team, Sarah Willis, P.E., Katherine Klentzman, PE, and Mike Carrell, PE had a blast during a site visit to Hutto ISD's newest middle school – Gus Almquist. The 160,000-square-foot school marks the third middle school for the district. It will include classroom and science laboratory spaces, a robotics lab, an art classroom and fine arts studios, a library and digital learning space with arena seating, collaboration areas, a cafeteria with stage, and athletics areas with competition and auxiliary gymnasiums. Dunaway partnered with VLK Architects to provide #structuralengineering on the middle school, which features a two-story glass wall and a walking bridge, allowing visibility outside from the stairs on the 2nd floor. Additional features include large #glulambeams that support the roof framing members.
