This fire simulation game, launched by the Indigenous Desert Alliance and Charles Darwin University, helps users understand how to manage desert fires under different conditions such as changes in weather, wind speed and amount of spinifex and buffel grass. The game was designed to illustrate key principles related to managing fire risk, specifically in the desert rural zone of the NT. This is one of my earliest works. I created the source of the flamethrower using a particle simulation and then generated the velocity field and pump field from it. I also procedurally created the dune environment in Houdini and rendered all of it with Mantra. #houdini #pyro #mantra #flamethrower #fire #simulation

warp-sabre, the toolset used to generate SABRE Maps, has been recently updated to support out-of-copyright Michelin maps. It's long been a goal of mine to get this working; however unlike Ordnance Survey maps, there isn't a good set of code to transform the local projections to WGS84 (the standard projection type for OpenLayers). So I had to go and write some. I basically discovered Michelin Maps have four corners using the Bonne Projection using the Plessis Ellispoid, with a datum derived from https://lnkd.in/eHABxAwh and an origin at the Paris Observatory (which is WGS84 lat 48.836439 lon 2.336506). The other usable elements on the maps are the markings in grads, with longitude zero at Paris instead of Greenwich. Anyway, the bottom line is, we can do French maps on SABRE. A bunch of them have been tested, and hopefully we can get these live to everybody soon. Watch this space.

Just lots of auroras, but things we may not even know would have occurred, but for our world, it would be over electrically, like even 1859 would cause an end to our electrical world.
