USA WORKERS MEMORIAL DAY - 28TH APRIL REFLECTIONS: 1. Do I value people, life, health, community, environment, climate? 2. What am I personally doing to proactively ensure a positive environment of Zero Harm...... at home....at work......and in-between? 3. As a leader.....am I acting positively?.....do I truly believe that I am accountable and responsible? 4. How am I doing today versus the 3 ?s above and my personal Core Values? In Remembrance This virtual Workers Memorial Wall is in honor and recognition to those who lost their lives while on the job. In addition to injuries or incidents there have been many lives lost due to occupational illnesses and diseases in the U.S. They are family members — spouses, children, siblings, grandparents, friends, and coworkers — and we recognize them and all our fallen workers on this page. We value all our fallen workers and offer their families our support, compassion and appreciation. https://lnkd.in/gGB7AC8R https://lnkd.in/encVGSAP

✊🧡 A LABOR DAY MESSAGE from OCEA General Manager Charles Barfield: I want to take a moment to recognize your tireless dedication to your community and wish you a Happy Labor Day. Whether you’re a public health nurse, code enforcement officer, law enforcement official, or one of the many other roles that keep Orange County running, your commitment has few parallels. This year, as we enjoy time with friends and family, let’s also remember the power of our collective voice. We’re part of a legacy of organized labor that has consistently fought for fairness and dignity in the workplace. Honoring the Sacrifices of the Working Class Ladies and Gentlemen, On this Labor Day, we gather not only to celebrate the achievements of the American worker but to reflect deeply on the sacrifices made by so many who have built, and continue to build, the foundations of our society. Labor Day is often seen as a time for rest, a welcome break from the daily grind. It is a day when we honor the dignity of work and the pride that comes with a job well done. But today, I ask that we go beyond mere celebration. Let us take a moment to remember and honor those men and women who have lost their lives or the quality of their lives due to workplace-related injuries. These are the individuals who, through their hard work and dedication, sought to provide for their families, only to face the unimaginable—suffering and loss as a result of their labor. Whether in construction, manufacturing, transportation, or countless other fields, the risks they faced were real, and the consequences, all too often, were devastating. Their stories remind us that while we celebrate the fruits of our labor, we must never forget the price that has sometimes been paid. Each life lost or altered by a workplace injury is a call to action, a reminder that we must continue to strive for safer working conditions, for stronger protections, and for a world where the well-being of every worker is a priority. Today, as we enjoy this holiday with our loved ones, let us hold in our hearts those who cannot be with theirs. Let us commit to honoring their memory not just with words, but with action—by advocating for safer workplaces, by supporting those who have been injured, and by ensuring that their sacrifices were not in vain. Labor Day is about more than just the work we do; it’s about the people who do it. Let us honor them today, and every day, by working towards a future where every worker can return home safe, healthy, and proud of the work they have done. Thank you. #Workplacesafety #Workplacefatality #OSHA #Safety #SafetyFirst #ASSP #NSC #SafetyManager #OHS #EHS #BeSafe #SafetyTraining #HealthandSafety #EmployeeSafety #SafetyProfessionals #Construction #ConstructionSafety #GeneralContractor #Contractor #HR #Manager

The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City. The celebration recognized the social and economic contributions of American workers. This was no easy achievement. The acknowledgment was met with strong resistance. It started with two union leaders in New Jersey taking a day to recognize the hard-working people in their communities. Then, one state after another, it became a nationwide holiday. Let us take a moment to really celebrate you and those around you. 📣 Key Workplace Update 📣 The Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes) Act 2023 will provide specific rights for workplace delegates to represent their workplace under their union’s rules. These changes commenced on 15 December 2023, with the aim to grant workplace delegates specific rights to ensure reasonable access to communicate with members and potential members about matters of industrial concern and access to workplace facilities. 🤝 What's New: 👔 Workplace delegates employed by non-small businesses will be provided with reasonable access to paid time for related training 📂 Fair Work Commission to prepare modern award terms to ensure that these rights are appropriately adapted for different industries 👩💼 All modern awards and future enterprise agreements will now require the inclusion of a compliant delegates rights term. What is deemed ‘reasonable’ for these matters will depend on the size and nature of the enterprise, and the enterprise's resources and available facilities. 🔹 Remembering and Reflecting on Workers' Memorial Day 🔹 Today we pause to honor and remember those who have tragically lost their lives on the job. Each story--each name--represents a universe of unfulfilled potential and dreams cut short. To the families and friends who have faced such profound loss, I want to extend our deepest sympathies and reaffirm our commitment to preventing such tragedies. I would also like to take a moment to express our gratitude to the tradespeople, whose dedication to safety is foundational in our workplaces. Your vigilance and commitment lay the groundwork for safer work environments, and your role cannot be overstated. You help turn policies into practices that protect lives. Finally, to my fellow safety professionals: Today underscores the critical importance of our work. It's a powerful reminder that what we do isn’t just a jo--it’s a lifeline. Let’s continue to champion, innovate, and advocate for safety in every industry, every day. Together, let's renew our commitment to ensuring that every worker returns home safely. We owe it to those we've lost and to those we strive to protect. #WorkersMemorialDay #SafetyFirst #WorkplaceSafety #RememberAndServe #Excelsior
