Have you come across Oddbox? I love it! We get a fruit box every two weeks. They speak to growers and ask what’s been picked and what’s going spare. Fruit and Veg that are at risk of going to waste because they are too big, too many, too small etc, make it into your box. It is a bit of a surprise each week. This week we got coconuts which I wasn’t expecting and am working out what to do with them. Anyone got any great ideas? So my International Women's day yesterday didn't quite get off to the start I had thought. I was due to attend the Business Women in Big Event but our youngest daughter is writing her GSCE mocks and the morning did not go as planned. Overwhelmed by the week and exhausted, she needed my attention and so as she rested a bit more, I got on with some work and then dropped her into school a bit later. By now I knew I was only going to get to the event by 1pm and had to leave at 2.45pm - I asked myself "Was it worth it?". I had missed two of the presenters I really wanted to see aka Nicky Bevan and Katherine Brooke and probably lunch. But I thought "what the hell, let's go anyway". And I am SO pleased I did. I walked in feeling rather depleted from the morning and was welcomed so warmly by all the amazing women who are part of this group - hugs, "how are you?", "lovely to see you" and I left feeling really invigorated and super pleased that I made the choice to just go . You may have seen our socials on the February challenge - Go the extra mile. Asking everyone to do something every day for February. So I decided to do tap for 29 days. So what is Tapping? It is also known as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and is based on the combined principles of ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology. I learnt the technique a couple of years ago from my amazing friend Jacqueline Duffy but never really did it until late last year when I started listening to The Tapping Solution app and following brother and sister, Nick and Jessica Ortner but I have been very hit and miss. Tapping regulates the nervous system and boosts the immune system and it is a great way to calm the nervous system. More to come on this over the next few weeks. So I am going to tap every day - you can focus on different areas but I am going to specifically focus on my health and sleep. I am hoping that by doing it everyday, it will form into a habit and become a part of my normal day. #gotheextramile

Another common question I get asked. Yes, it is common for you to pay towards these expenses. Normally it is a set amount of money which is agreed within the settlement agreement. I thought I’d celebrate January a bit this year by providing the answers to some of the most common questions I get asked as an HR professional. I’ll answer them here, but if you still need advice you know where I am! In the case of a settlement agreement (which used to be called a compromise agreement) it is a legally binding document that outlines the terms and conditions under which an employer and employee agree to resolve a dispute or a potential legal claim. After the frenzy of Christmas socialising, January often makes us feel like retreating into our homes and less inclined to socialise. However, this can bring about feelings of loneliness and isolation, making the month feel much more bleak and uninspiring. How about having a January social in your workplace?
