New profiling and color management for polyester carpet (6 mm thickness) digital printer. Every single printer has different way of color management. So when I copy an ICC from a printer to another (just for testing and comparing) , it doesn't have good output, even though the materials, inks, printers and the other specifications are the same. These #Drupa samples, collected from various booths, show that in flexo there are no global standards implemented (edit: added "implemented"). As seen, the #CIELAB values vary between samples. IMO, global standards are useful as reference for flexo, but not needed to be matched; each printer should maximize their own gamut. As we see, none of the samples match the FOGRA39 (offset) reference profile. Also, we can see significant variations in cyan and magenta L*a*b*s, while yellow remains more stable. Sample densities ranged: Cyan: 1.43-1.86 Magenta: 1.35-1.66 Yellow: 1.39-1.62 What's the point of this post? Actually, not much, I just wanted to see if different samples had identical primary colors. Actually, it would have been even more interesting to compare offset printed samples, as they are considered standardized. What we can learn from this? Use what ever tools you have, but take the best out from it. Notice: Unfortunately, many print samples from the booths lacked control elements for defining color values.
