Noticeable chassis vibration dampening The CRF450R these bars were mounted to feeds a lot of vibration to the handlebar - the Swingbar helped to reduce this. Takes the “sting” out of square edge bumps I’ve had previous wrist injuries, and the Swingbar softens the blow when hitting square-edge rocks and ledges with the front tire while riding single-track and two-track trails compared to a standard ⅞” handlebar. Reduced arm pump I noticed a significant reduction in arm pump on longer rides / motos. Modular design I appreciate that individual pieces are replaceable.

"Tuning the Torsional Stiffness of Aluminum Ski Laminates using Soft Materials and Cut Patterns" will be one of our six presentations on skiing, hockey and footwear traction at the (ISEA) International Sports Engineering Association conference on July 8-12. To reduce the carbon footprint of skis, we recently became interested in using aluminum to fully replace the reinforcement layers. While aluminum reinforcements allow for a larger part of the ski to be recyclable, they also typically increase the torsional stiffness of the skis making them mostly suitable for expert skiers. In this presentation, Lucas Berthon will explore strategies to reduce the torsional stiffness associated with aluminum-containing ski-like laminates to broaden their appeal. Soft materials were introduced between the wood core and the reinforcement layers to reduce the torsional stiffness by up to 40%, close to the variation observed in commercial products. Similar results were attained by introducing longitudinal cut patterns in aluminum sheets. Importantly, these two strategies exhibit limited impact on bending stiffness, and can be used together to reduce the torsional stiffness by 77%. Golf - a sport that requires skill, patience, and strategy. And in the words of Ben Sayers... “A good player who is a great putter is a match for no golfer. A great hitter who cannot putt is a match for no one." Golf as a game has many challenging aspects and to improve your performance on the golf course you need both good mechanical and visual skills. Whilst mechanical skills are practised every time you play, visual skills need to be identified and enhanced outside of the practice round. In golf, as you not only have to estimate distances, read the greens, and focus on a target, you must also have good hand- eye, body-eye co-ordination and ultimately be able to concentrate under pressure. How you read a putt, align your body, or how well you see the target and how you visualize your shot, are all influenced by your vision. This visual information must be accurate to enable you to; pinpoint the target, enhance your alignment, improve green reading, and expand your concentration and focus. It’s going to cost $2,500 to buy one of Wilson’s viral Airless basketballs, but there’s a reason they had to make it so expensive. ⬇️ This Friday, February 16th, Wilson Sporting Goods Co. is releasing 200 Airless Gen1 basketballs to the public. Now, this ball first debuted at last year’s NBA All-Star Game when Kenyon Martin Jr. used it in the dunk contest but what we didn’t know at the time is that the ball had actually been in development for years. The engineering team at Wilson and EOS had to take the time to perfect the ball's: ∙ Latticed pattern ∙ Shape ∙ Material To get it to bounce, feel, and perform exactly like a regular basketball without having to be inflated. I actually had the chance to dribble the first prototype of the ball myself last May and I was shocked by how similar the 3D-printed ball performed to a regular ball. However, at the time there were less than a dozen of these balls in existence, mainly because of how much time and expense it took to make each one. EOS, the company responsible for printing the balls, actually told me that at the height of their production process, they were only making one ball per day. Which explains why Wilson is now only offering 200 for sale at such a high price point. However, if you’re lucky enough to get your hands on one of these balls you’ll have the option to get it in: ∙ Black ∙ White ∙ Brown But representatives from Wilson say that they’re expecting the majority of people who buy these to be collectors and tech enthusiasts. And as for the rest of us? Well, the lead engineer of the ball, Nadine Lippa, PhD, says it’ll probably be years before the 3D-printing industry can catch up to demand.
