Today, I am thrilled to share that I have completed my Master of Technology in Data Science and Engineering from the esteemed Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. When I started this journey, I was filled with doubts. I wasn’t sure if I was ready to commit to a two-year program, having 16 hours of lectures every week, quizes, assignments, mid-sem and end-sem but the syllabus quickly changed my perspective. I realized that this wouldn’t just be another degree; it would be a deeply enriching learning experience. The curriculum was packed with mathematics and its real-world applications, which brought a sense of purpose and excitement to my studies. This course reminded me of my days in Kota, where I would spend hours solving physics and math problems purely for the joy of it, without worrying too much about the outcomes. Here, I got to revisit that sense of discovery, with a focus on the mathematics and logic behind data science techniques, as well as tackling brain-teasers to sharpen cognitive skills. I made a BIG mistake pursuing a DUAL DEGREE at BITS PILANI... 📚 Sunday Synergies. Sunday Stories. 📚 When I got my BITSAT results, I was hit with a dilemma. ➡ My score barely crossed last year’s cutoffs + Enrolled in another college. ➡ Didn’t want Mech/Chem, so the only option left was a Dual Degree. With hesitation, I chose MSc. Maths. (I was good at it, or I thought so😂) 1st Year? MANAGEABLE. ➡ I secured a decent GPA and thought I had most of it figured out. ➡ Little did I know, the real grind was yet to begin. 2nd Year? BRUTAL. ➡ Abstract math subjects drained me mentally—I scored miserably. ➡ My hatred for the subject only grew stronger. (Never want to look at - REAL ANALYSIS and TOPOLOGY again!) 3rd Year? PURE CHAOS. ➡ 34+ hours of classes and labs weekly, YES, that much! ➡ Continuous quizzes, assignments, and zero breathing space. ➡ Add Badminton Captain, Dance Club, Acads — Felt overwhelming. Those two semesters were a blur + physical and mental exhaustion. NOW? 4th Year? ADAPTED I'd say. ➡ The schedule is still hectic, but I’ve found a rhythm. ➡ The journey, though exhausting, has taught me tons! All this pressure that broke me, SHAPED ME. (cringe ik, but TRUE!) I still can't believe only 5-6 months of campus life are left, and I'd give anything to relive them again! The dual degree question? Stopped asking that a long time ago! If you’re looking for: - Overall prestige → IIT - Diversified courses → NIT - Computer Science Engineering → IIIT - Entrepreneurial culture → BITS It's important to remember that the college you go to does not automatically guarantee success. Success is the result of your own actions and dedication. Some of the world’s most successful people didn't even graduate college. So, choose your college wisely but remember it's just a stepping stone towards achieving your ultimate goal.

🎯 0% Attendance @BITS PILANI: Blessing or Curse? At BITS Pilani, we have the unique freedom of 0% attendance. Sounds like a dream, right? But here’s the truth: Not everything that sounds good works out for everyone. Here’s my take after maintaining a near-perfect attendance record: ⏩ Structure is key: By attending all classes, I could stay consistent with my work. Instead of cramming weeks’ worth of content at the last minute, I could spend more time solving problems and PYQs, & focusing on extracurriculars. ⏩ Avoid the backlog trap: Many students see 0% attendance as a free pass to skip lectures. Sure, that freedom is tempting, but the reality? Backlogs pile up, and you’re left with immense stress and regret (oh, the “lite le” comment will bug you!). ⏩ Entrepreneurs use it smartly: Some of my friends building startups used the flexibility to work on their ventures. For them, missing classes wasn’t slacking off—it was strategic. They found ways to manage their coursework while growing their ventures, making the most of that freedom. I'll give you an example from both sides of the coin and let you make the decision- 1️⃣ I attended every class of one course this semester and still scored only average marks, while a friend of mine skipped nearly all classes, studied the entire textbook herself, and topped the exam! 📚 2️⃣ I got more time to practice each and every course's PYQs, and scored well in all other courses! 💯 So, while attendance doesn’t guarantee success, it definitely provides a framework that can save you from stress later. 💡 ❓ What’s your take: Is 0% attendance a blessing or a hidden trap?

Why B.Pharm at BITS Pilani? While selecting colleges a year ago, I didn’t have very good marks in BITSAT (175/390) (reasons? lite, stories I just don’t want to recall...). So, my choices were MIT and VIT, but I had an interest in the business world, I was drawn to BITS’ startup culture, something I discovered through online resources and videos. Seeing folks building things, always working on something, and the overall energy was very fascinating to me. I sat down and asked myself what I really wanted to do: - I’m not inclined towards pursuing a job. - I have an interest in the startup world. - I like to create, manifest, and explore. - I want to meet great, passionate people and have access to a strong network. - I enjoy coding and can teach myself with the resources available. - I’ll have free time to build my own path and develop skills. Hmm, I just followed my gut, and it led me to BITS. :) Hope, i will stop getting this question from now on...
