Hello, I am Sandra Rook, 20 years old and a fourth-year International Creative Business Student at InHolland University of Applied Sciences, The Hague. I'm searching for a company to work with for my graduation project. In this assignment, Design-Based Research (DBR) is being used to answer a client's challenge. Some important details about the assignment: This is not an internship (I will have classes during this time and will not be present at the company) The timeframe for this project is approximately 20 weeks A supervisor is needed for any questions and/or comments What is expected from the client: A challenge to solve for the client A designated contact person to answer questions during the research (available ~ 1 hour per week) Attendance at two handovers/presentations (preferably the contact person) If you or your company are interested in this project or if you have any questions, please contact me at 667759@student.inholland.nl.

Introducing our new ‘Find A Solution’ digital intern funded through the Internship Hub University of Glasgow Abby Carter! Abby is a Sound Design and Audiovisual Practice MSc student. Abby has been working on a range of projects for the archive - graphic design and content creation- including this post! She has been particularly enjoying assisting in the development of some secondary school teaching resources as well as designing biographies of connections of Alasdair's for print and social media. While Abby’s technical skills are certainly being challenged and developed at AGA, it is the practice of working in the archive and learning from Alasdair Gray's approach to making that is teaching her the most. She has learnt that she cannot produce good work in a vacuum and that openly collaborating with, and being inspired by, other makers and their works is invaluable. Her past experience has been varied - in film, music, and design - and she had often felt that she should narrow down her remit in order to be successful. Alasdair's multitude of skills and creative outputs have equipped Abby with the confidence not to try and neatly fold her own creative practice into one box. His open, generous, and ambitious approach to creative practice has hugely inspired her own. Abby writes; ‘I think that AGA positions Alasdair Gray not as some untouchable 'great', in the way that successful people are often posthumously painted by museums and archives. Instead, AGA allows visitors a personal insight into Alasdair's life, connections and causes. What struck me first about AGA was its complete lack of pretension or exclusivity, which I think underpinned Alasdair Gray's work. In practice, this ethos means that interns such as myself are given a huge amount of trust with projects and tasks that other organisations might not hand over so willingly.’ #alasdairgray #thealasdairgrayarchive #studentstories

❤️My internship journey as Editorial Intern for the Journal of Formative Design in Learning has reached its conclusion. This experience has been truly enlightening as I have immersed myself in the task of reading, synthesizing, and crafting social media posts accompanied by visuals. My primary goal was to generate traction and potentially attract new publishers to the Journal of Formative Design in Learning. While I am pleased to say I achieved this objective, I depart from this internship with one profound "ah-ha" moment that I am eager to share. 🫵 📚I want to make an argument for pursuing good research and why it should guide our practices. 🚀 In a world of information overload, where opinions flood our feeds and trends are presented in the most convincing way, there is one steadfast beacon we must never overlook: research. 🙌 🚥Why? Because research is not just a collection of facts and figures—it's the heartbeat of progress, the foundation upon which our practices should stand. It's the result of countless hours of dedication, rigorous testing, and unwavering curiosity.💡 🤔Think about it: Would you trust a map drawn by someone who has never explored the terrain? Or would you rather navigate with the guidance of those who have meticulously charted the course?🗺️ 🔦Research isn't about stifling creativity; it's about illuminating the path forward. It's about tapping into the wealth of knowledge that has been unearthed through careful investigation and analysis. 😍By embracing research, we empower ourselves to make informed decisions, to innovate with purpose, and to elevate our practices to new heights. It's the difference between stumbling in the dark and walking confidently under the light of knowledge. ✨So, let us make a pact: may we always seek out research, to let it be our guiding star in a sea of uncertainty. Let's embrace the wisdom it offers and use it to hone our craft for a more empowered future. I encourage you, for your next teaching or learning endeavor, to seek empirical evidence to guide your design choices. It is in this final post I invite you once more to learn from the Journal of Formative Design in Learning! Furthermore, if you've conducted research and have valuable insight to share, please contact Michele Stork, Ed.D. and begin the process of publishing. It has been my greatest pleasure, Jaclyn Holimon #Nerdsrule #JFDL #Research #Formativedesign #bestpractices #instructionaldesign

Another lesson learned from Denmark - you might not know what you want to be when you grow up and that's totally ok. But it's important that you explore. For me, growing up in the US meant there was no time to explore different careers or have a mentor to ask questions. And definitely no time for having fun. Luckily for me, I got the chance to be a mentor for someone else. I got the chance to plan Amin's student internship, or højskole praktik, at Rosan Bosch, and share my knowledge with him about interior design. Over the course of five days, we explored the basic principles of design and came up with a project proposal for a student hangout room at his school. He created a mood board, learned to draw to scale, learned the principles of color theory and so much more. To say the least, it was a rewarding and eye opening experience to see what someone can learn in just five days. To my younger self and anyone else who didn't know (or still doesn't know) what they wanted to be when they grew up, don't forget that there's always a network of mentors out there, willing to share what they know with you. And to anyone who has the chance to be a mentor for someone else - don't be afraid to go for it. You won't regret it. Here's a picture of day 5 after Amin's final presentation to the studio. He nailed it!! 👏
