Access to clean and safe water is the first step to an improved life. Adding hygiene education training takes this to the next level by equipping community members like Yar Chol Marial with safe practices to improve their overall health, ultimately establishing habits that can be carried on by the next generation.
Yar Chol Marial, a female community member who resides in Boul village, says the quality of life has improved drastically because everyone in the area has access to safe drinking water and hygiene education.
“Personal hygiene practices amongst families in my community have improved, which is due to the education of personal and water hygiene. We can now sustain, protect, and maintain the water source for many years,” Yar shared.
Yar continued, “There has been a reduction in many diseases like guinea worm, diarrhea, bilharzia, and typhoid simply due to the presence of clean water in the area. I know that access to clean drinking water and hygiene information improves lives because I see it in my own community.”
Help someone like Yar gain the skills to improve their health. A donation of $50 provides the necessary supplies for village hygiene training. All donations will be matched up to $1,500.
