I would like to thank the organizers Universitas Udayana (UNUD) for the opportunity to present a research poster related to "Resistant Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Increases the Incidence of HIV, Mpox, and Sexually Transmitted Infections: Analysis of Barriers and Challenges using Bibliometric Surveillance (https://lnkd.in/gGj2M7wX)". This poster provides information on the importance of maintaining the consumption of PrEP that has been used to prevent +HIV infection. However, several reports have revealed that a large proportion of at-risk populations disregard regular PrEP consumption and continue to engage in risky relationships on the grounds that they are "already on PrEP and therefore free from HIV infections.". Recently, there have been many reports that individuals who are not consistently taking PrEP have increased the incidence of HIV, along with MPX and STIs. #Pernasjphiv2023 #Bali

ICREA Research Professor at the AIDS Research Institute irsiCaixa - Associate Professor at the Univeristy of Vic (UVic-UCC) - Researcher at the Institute for Health Science Research Germans Trias i Pujol (IGTP)
👉 According to the latest UNAIDS 2022 report, there were approximately 130,000 new HIV infections among children under the age of five. 🔎 #IrsiCaixa researchers have contributed to the identification of South African male children with vertical transmission of #HIV, who controlled their viremia despite unscheduled complete discontinuation of antiretroviral therapy. 💡 Resistance to interferon (IFN-I) and viral replication capacity are possible underlying mechanisms. 📌 These data suggest that viremic control may occur in some infants with in utero-acquired HIV infection after early initiation of treatment, and may be associated with sex differences in innate immunity. ✍ The research has been published ahead of print in Nature Medicine: https://lnkd.in/dkwQizFT

Head of Global Medical & Clinical Affairs for HIV, Hepatitis, Respiratory Infections, Patient Safety, and Med Education at Abbott. Prior therapeutic areas include immunological disorders, neurology, GI, and rare diseases
Professor Eduard Sanders used his close to 20 years longitudinal dataset from Kenya to demonstrate that Acute HIV infection (AHI) has been consistent at ~3% among HIV patients even though HIV prevalence has been significantly reduced. Together with other data, such as AHI has at least one log higher viral load and AHI contributes 30% to 60% new HIV infections, the study illustrated the importance of identifying and treating AHI patients. #AIDS2024 #AHI #HIV

#SharingMyReserachOnSSTETS. #HomedeliveryofantiretroviraltoHIVclientsadmistcovid19andinsecuritychallengesarandomizedcontrolledtrial. DOI: 10.26502/jppch.74050090 This study explored the successes recorded in the fight against HIV and great setbacks was seen as a result of challenges due to insecurity and COVID -19 pandemic. In 2019 access to antiretroviral was affected due to insecurity and COVID 19 challenges in the country and these disruption patterns reversed the progress made in the fight against HIV. A randomized control trial was done in 2019 to 2023 and it explored the feasibility of the delivery of antiretroviral medication to patients’ home. At the end of the study, patients' viral load were supressed. They were satisfied with the delivery model and were willing to pay for it. #SSETS #ForeignCommonwealthandDevelopmentOffice, #LancasterUniversity, #Britishcouncil,#NigeriaUniversityCommision #EnuguStateUniversityofScienceandTechnology #ChikeAnibueze #AkanimoOdon #ViolaAkhigbe

A new WHO report highlights significant public health challenges posed by HIV, viral hepatitis, and STIs, causing 2.5 million deaths annually. Key findings include a rise in adult syphilis infections, reaching 8 million in 2022, and increases in multi-resistant gonorrhea and viral hepatitis cases. Despite challenges, there are gains in expanding services: -19 countries validated for eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV/syphilis. -HIV treatment coverage at 76%, with 93% achieving suppressed viral loads. -Botswana and Namibia making strides towards eliminating HIV. The report emphasizes the need for cross-cutting investment, addressing stigma, and expanding primary prevention and treatment.
