Our Dwyer Scholars are manifesting an exciting and eventful 2025! 🔮💫 Last week, we hosted a crafting party at our Maryland Resource Center where Scholars had the chance to create vision boards featuring their biggest goals and dreams for the year. The event was a wonderful opportunity for Scholars to connect with each other, share their inspiration and plans for 2025, and reflect on all the amazing things they accomplished in 2024. #DwyerWorkforceDevelopment #VisionBoards #NewYearNewGoals

This segment from last week's Netroots Nation, featuring Dr. Kimberle Crenshaw, Keith Ellison, Justin Jones and Tim Wise is worth listening to if you get a minute. Maybe on the drive in or something. If you missed it, here's the description... "Building on last year’s featured session, “First They Came for CRT…,” this plenary reminds us why we cannot remain silent as extremists scapegoat marginalized groups for our country’s problems. After banning Critical Race Theory and discussions of structural racism in nearly half the states and emboldened by a deeply regressive Supreme Court’s SFFA ruling on race-conscious admissions, backlash architects seek to eliminate the most basic diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts. They aim not only to upend the entire infrastructure of civil rights but also to entrench white Christian nationalist heteropatriarchy. This plenary analyzes how we can wage a robust fight for racial justice, and why we must, in order to save our democracy."

Day 11 of embracing the wonders of life! Reflecting on the power of critical thinking and optimism, I decided to share a poignant picture from Birkenau I took yesterday. A reminder of the importance of staying critical, especially in a world where the loudest voices often overshadow facts. In a time where media can amplify noise over truth, it's crucial to seek diverse perspectives and challenge echo chambers. We hold the power to prevent history from repeating itself by fostering independent thinking and standing up against the tide. One solution discussed was introducing philosophy early on to enhance collective critical thinking. Teaching our children to think independently and embrace differing viewpoints can pave the way for a brighter future. By expanding our minds through exposure to varied media, visiting museums, and engaging with diverse content, we can cultivate a society where critical thinking thrives. Let's shape a world where all can flourish. For more insights, join my weekly newsletter: https://lnkd.in/ef34hvjq #criticalthinking #philosophy #brightfuture

Dear Higher Education, You may want to take some notes. Putting the system on notice. Lots to unpack, but should take seriously. Future generations hang in the balance and we should be paying attention. For me, one quote stood out above all else. While it wasn't the focus of the TEDX talk, I think it deserves the highlight as it fits well into his discussion points: "Higher Ed is about taking unremarkable kids and making them remarkable." We seem to have gotten away from this premise, and we need to get back to it. Well done #scottgalloway!

“We may not see the future, but our children will. It is our job to help them make something of it…We are educating people out of creativity… We can’t afford going on that way… If you aren’t prepared to make mistakes, you’ll never do something original”, Sir Ken Robinson ”America, land of the brave, home of the free,” is an original idea that changed the course of the world. Marxist/Communist Governments are failed mistakes, which collectively are responsible for deaths of over 100M since the Bolsheviks overthrew Tsar Alexander post WW1. Freedom breeds life force and inspires creativity. Marxism/Communism squander creativity and thus, life force. We must not repeat failed experiments of prior & current governments. This is the case of, “If you do not learn history, you are doomed to repeat it”. Opening a Christian school can be a big undertaking, so it helps to break down the process into multiple steps. The first phase of opening a school, "Envisioning", is perhaps the most important part of the process. During this phase, you lay the foundation of your school by establishing your philosophy of education and selecting the people who will shape the future of your school. To learn more, watch the video below and continue reading at the link below. https://lnkd.in/gFyr3YTR

All K12 curriculum covering social emotional learning should include a section about future studies. Anxiety about the future is high when you don't see yourself in it...
Director at Shifting Schools | Weaving new literacies | Queer Wisdom & Neurodivergent Perspective | Digital Humanities bridges past, present, and future through tech, critical inquiry, and deep listening.
There's no one way to be a futurist. #FuturesStudies models imagination and diversity of approach because its practices necessitate we think and collaborate differently. The carousel of quotes hopes to inspire you to think about what #futuresliteracy might look like in your community (for your community). What preferred future do you have for the role of futurists in #K12 education? Arden Tyoschin, Madeleine Maceda Heide, Paula G. Plaza-Ponte, Jose Ramon (Tico) Oms, Margaret Park, Amy Oswalt, La Mor, Daniela Silva

Dr. King spoke about the “urgency of now,” and now more than ever, we need to come together and embrace our shared humanity. In the “Age of the Algorithm" world we all live in, it is easier than ever to create individualized silos of sameness. This isolation leads to polarization and plays on our natural tendency as people to stay in our cultural comfort zones. This societal polarization has created a reality of “this side” vs “that side” that has eliminated the “middle" place of common ground. This divide has greatly minimized our ability as leaders to solve big problems. This talk will introduce “3rd Space Theory” of problem solving, a simple formula that I created and highlight in my new book, Beautiful Together, to leverage the power of multiple perspectives to find solutions to the challenges that we face as people, companies, and communities. Dr. King once spoke about his dream. As children of his dream, it is urgent that we now learn how to be Beautiful Together as we honor him and his legacy. Grateful to partner with the city of Rockford to celebrate such a historical American hero. A book signing will follow. #MLKDay #DrMartinLutherKingJr #MartinLutherKingJr #3rdSpaceLeadership #BeautifulTogether
