"As money continues to be thrown around and politicians increasingly get involved in shaping how we collectively mourn and remember our friends and family, I hope you will join me in starting a public dialogue framed by these questions: What actions have other business owners taken in response to mass shootings at their businesses? Do tourist attractions and gift shop trinkets (the OnePulse Foundation already has an online storefront selling T-shirts, tote bags, and yard signs) appropriately honor our slain friends and family? Who benefits from keeping the Pulse memorial a privately owned space and what are the ramifications of this? Would we benefit from creating a public memorial elsewhere that everyone could freely access at any time, without restrictions? How can we refocus our efforts and our funds to create a publicly owned Pulse memorial?" https://lnkd.in/eqpDfq8C

This story has really captured the hearts & minds of people near & far. A beautifully simple story in so many respects, but also an embodiment of what community regeneration means: connection, revival, action & hope. https://lnkd.in/exnn6ubk

Thanks for having me Shoutout Miami! I love this part specifically about what they're doing: "We think meaningful conversations are at the heart of community building. We also think every voice matters and that these conversations shouldn’t be led by billionaires, media elites, or celebrities. We feel it’s far more relevant to hear from the folks who make up the fabric of our communities – small business owners, mom-and-pops, and independent artists and creatives." This is a great example of a venture designed to be a part of helping people see, know and hear each other. It can be a bridge that links together cities, communities, businesses, nonprofits, neighborhoods, and people. Do you see this happening in your circles and if so, where and how? https://lnkd.in/eSxZsJV6

When we celebrate July 4th, it's more than just BBQs and fireworks. It's about community. 🇺🇸 Here are 4 creative ways to show love for your community this Independence Day: 🎉 Host a Local Event: Organize a neighborhood potluck or a local talent show. It's a great way for first-time home buyers and VA buyers to meet their neighbors and build connections. 🌟 Support Local Businesses: Visit farmers' markets, local shops, or dine at a family-owned restaurant. Small actions can make a big impact on local businesses. 👥 Volunteer: Spend a few hours at a community center or participate in a clean-up event. It’s a wonderful way to give back and make our neighborhoods better. 🏡 Share Your Home Buying Story: For many, owning a home is the American dream. Sharing your journey can inspire others, especially first-time and VA buyers. This July 4th, let's make our communities stronger and more connected. Happy Independence Day! 🎆 How do you plan to celebrate and give back to your community?

Strategist & Leadership Coach | Speaker | I build systems for belonging & inclusion in the workplace so women of color can thrive.
While I sat comfortably at home 82,000 Coloradans lost power due to the weather. Hopefully, this is enough time to complete the application for those who were impacted. Also, this is the number one reason why we shouldn’t wait until the last-minute to turn in an application. Be sure to include systems design in your work 😉. I can help with that. Coaching to manage all the thoughts about time and mindset and other people. Workshops to plan, learn and execute. Group coaching to work with your team.

For #GivingTuesday, consider giving to the Omaha Community Foundation's Let Good Grow Fund. It supports all of the vital work we are doing in the community. In December 2022, the multi-building apartment complex Legacy Crossing was closed due to critically unsafe conditions. Days before Christmas, in below-zero temperatures, more than 150 families had mere hours to find a place to stay for the night, and then a new permanent place to live. The city called on us to collect donations as quickly as possible. Because of support from our Let Good Grow donors, we were able to begin fundraising immediately, ultimately raising more than $260,000 in a matter of days. Those funds were transferred to nonprofit partners who were able to find short- and long-term housing, pay rental application fees and deposits, and assist people moving into new, safer homes. This is just one example of how swiftly and accurately OCF can direct dollars toward local needs. Others include: * Distributing $40 million in ARPA and CARES Acts funds to local nonprofits. * Managing $2 million in community loans focused on assisting small businesses and increasing affordable housing. * Providing a year-long training program for local nonprofit leaders to help build their organizations. Consider donating: Omahafoundation.org/Good
We're working to make Omaha a strong, vibrant community for everyone. But we need your help! Support our Let Good Grow campaign on #GivingTuesday! https://lnkd.in/gRB3X4sH
