Yesterday marked a significant milestone for me. It has been one year since I left the Royal Navy. Leaving the Navy wasn't an easy decision, but it was by far one of the best decisions I've ever made. It's opened up doors to new opportunities and allowed me to find a better balance between work and family life. Being there for my kids, watching them grow and actively participating in their lives has made it all worth it. Transitioning into civilian life led me down a path which I hadn't anticipated during resettlement. I went on to pursue a career within Project Management as this aligned my experience, Was an industry that had a variety of roles which excited me and also a job that would give me satisfaction of being there. I'll be forever thankful for the people who helped me along the way, Introduced me into Project Management and gave me the tools to kick on. - Iona McIntyre Debbie Foley Jen Burns In January of this year, I joined ATOS as a Full time Project Manager. It has been a great journey so far, learning new skills and also being able to meet and work with some great people. Becoming a Project Manager has been the goal since leaving the Navy back in February 2023 and this is just another milestone achieved within my journey. I'm excited about the future that lies ahead within Project Management. I'm looking forward to continuing to grow both personally and professionally, embracing new experiences and making a positive impact within my role at ATOS. If there was 3 Things I would have told myself to do differently within my last few year's of the Royal Navy, It would have been. 1. Network with people within your chosen career path. 2. Gain some formal qualifications within my chosen career path with the spare time I had. 3. Got advice regarding the CV and adjusted this as I went on. Overall I have had a great first year post Military. Learned a lot of stuff about myself and also gained invaluable experience.
